Dad's Obituary, if you would like to read:
Frank was born in Lloydminster to George "Pete" and Dorothy (Ogram) Mann. He was the youngest sibling to Evelyn and George. Frank often said he couldn’t have survived without his brother and his sister couldn’t have been more special to him. He later in life had the privilege of adding two more brothers Harold Jimmy and Dennis Olsen. He graduated from the Lloydminster Comprehensive High School in 1963. He spent his winters in the bush and returned home in the spring time to put his money into cattle on his beloved ranch.
It is safe to say that rodeo and the cowboy lifestyle ran deep within Frank. He entered his first rodeo at Lea Park at the age of 16 and walked away the Junior Bull Riding Champion. Summer weekends were then spent heading to rodeos to satisfy and feed his competitive nature. He rode bulls for over a decade and won money in every event rodeo offers. His passion and love for the sport made him a great rodeo judge. He knew the Canadian West well traveling to rodeos all over our great country spanning even into Quebec as a well respected judge. There are many cowboys out there today that have stories they share often about Frank, and some they just laugh about to themselves. He was an all around cowboy and a good ol cowboy he remained throughout his entire life.
Everyone who knew and witnessed Frank and Candy together knew his deep love for “Mag”. Together they always were. They married July 20th, 1990 on the front steps of the home he passed in. Frank and Candy traveled the world together. Whether it was playing polo in Argentina, swimming with dolphins in the Caribbean, walking hand in hand through the coliseum in Rome or just sharing in their afternoon naps together. After Frank passed, Candy was telling a house full of their closest family and friends that they had a bucket list together. Frank made sure every item on that list was covered for Candy and he made all her dreams come true.
Together they raised 4 children. Dusty, Colby, Jessie and Brue. Losing Dusty in 2004 was the hardest times in Frank and Candy’s life. Together, side by side, they endured the tragic loss and remained steadfast for their family
Frank took such pride in his children and who they became. He spent countless hours teaching each of the kids the values of everything from: hunting, trapping, and skinning to good sportsmanship. All the while, instilling kindness and respect.
Frank had a fierce love for his family and took his role of husband, father, grandfather and provider very seriously. Colby emulates each of these and it is evident in how he treats his own family with Diedre, Jasxon and Sawyer. There is nothing that Colby wouldn’t do for his wife and children. Candy once said, “If you see Frank in the tractor in minus 30 driving aimlessly in the field, you know he is with Jaxson.” Frank got so much joy from his grandchildren.
Most knew of Franks competitive nature and sportsmanlike attitude, these were non negotiable in any arena. The entire family was well known for their four year run at the KVM Ranch Rodeo. He once grabbed Jess in the trailer before she was getting ready to win another round in the barrel racing, shaking her by the shoulders explaining, “This is just one of the best days of my life.” He had tabulated the score and knew they had, “Done it again!” Frank pulled ropes, cheered on the sidelines and was a teacher and mentor to many young men on the rodeo trail. People often describe Jess as happier for other people than for herself and that surely comes from Frank.
Brue or “Podge” as Frank called him exudes the Frank charm, charisma and social nature we all knew all too well. Brue and Kiara’s house is a steady stream of people stopping in for a visit, to share a beer and have a laugh. You always found a group of people huddled around Frank, hearing stories and just wanting to be around him. Brue is the same. The Mann Ranch has been in the family for over 100 years and Franks respect for his herd, horses and dogs and the ranching lifestyle is being carried forth by Brue and Kiara, alongside Candy.
Frank was a man of many talents and often described as a ‘jack of all trades’. He loved to golf and often opted to walk the course. Wow did he love to lace up a pair of skates. His love for hockey was unwavering. He spent many hours on the ice with the Shoulda Hadums and the Hillmond Hitmen described him as their biggest fan. There isn’t a person in the Country of Britannia that doesn’t know Frank as the ‘community hunter and trapper’ or as the ‘local vet’. His artistic talents are witnessed all over the Community and especially when you step foot on the Mann Ranch. Every building has a special touch. His most recent project was finishing a log garage he said was for Candy. You can tell every detail was finished with love.
Frank is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Candy. His children, grandchildren, loving siblings, in laws and all of their children were all so special to Frank. There isn’t a family member who doesn’t have a special place for him in their heart.
Frank is predeceased by his parents George and Dorothy, loving son Dusty, father and mother in law, Donnie and Ruth Detchon, and dear friend, Lee Coleman.

I was saddened to hear the news that Frank had moved on! Although we only spent a little time with him his good nature, generosity of spirit and human kindness made a trip to his home a pleasure and a privilege. He always made us strange English folks welcome. I will remember with very fond memories one trip we made where during our visit he took me out to show me his trapping shed and things and explained with passion all about what he did. As I say fond warm memories that are times I will always treasure. My thoughts, my best wishes go out at this time to Candy and the family. Michael Dean, Seaford, East Sussex, UK.
