I met Bill a number of times as an employee of UFA, including when I brought the History In Motion tour to Paradise Valley in 2004. Bill was a tireless supporter of the concept of organized farm advocacy and activism, and worked in several capacities to that end. The best we can hope for is to leave our world better than we found it, and Bill did just that. I'm saddened by this loss to the movement.

Was unable to attend the service but was certainly with you in thoughts.
Thinking back a decade, as chairman of UFA nominating committee, interviewing Bill and bringing his name forward for the election.
Good times as we look back. Thinking of you all at this time and thinking of all the good work that Bill has done for agriculture and the Co-ops.

To the Dobson and Kuhn Family
Our family farm is located in Elk Point next to the Kuhn's farm. I met Sharon Kuhn's "brother Bill" many years ago as a teenager on one of his favorite hunting expeditions! I remember back then the immediate impression Bill had on me. He was a guy you really looked up to. He was kind, intelligent, witty, caring and of course the list goes on! It wasn't until many years later that I was fortunate to work with Bill representing District 8 of UFA. Those same characteristics that I originally knew of Bill, were still with him so many years later. He was a true genuine character! You always knew that if you said or discussed something controversial with Bill, you better be prepared for a healthy debate and you had to bring your "A" game if you wanted to win. We had many memorable moments while with UFA which I will cherish.
Bill was always a champion of the "Cooperative Movement" from which many small communities still benefit from today. In many cases, we would all wonder, "how was Bill going to do this, how was he going to do that?", but he always came through and got things done whether on the farm, on the boards he was on or in the community he loved so much.
There are many people, organizations and communities that Bill touched in his unique way which is very difficult to replace and will be missed.
To the Dobson, Kuhn and all the other families, please accept or deepest condolences and sympathies as we remember a true gentleman.

I was sorry to hear that Bill had passed away. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the service but memories there are many. Just thinking of Bill brings a smile to my face. Bill was one of those people who could go into a meeting vigorously and forcefully defend his ideas and positions and then at the end of the day go have a beer with everyone. This quality meant that wherever he went in the country there was a friend there. His contributions to agriculture in Alberta and Canada were many and he will be missed. Our condolences and a special thank you to his family who supported Bill in helping be a true friend of agriculture.

Bill loved farming family and community. I met him through the United Farmers of Alberta where we served on the Board of Directors. Bill was passionate about Co-ops in general and UFA in particular. He loved to debate and challenge opinions but always in such a kind way that we always parted as friends. Bill’s smile was infectious and will be sadly missed. Deepest sympathy to Sherry and all his family

I deeply regret not being able to attend Bill’s memorial service as I have many fond memories of working with Bill that I would Love to share with Bill’s family and friends. I will relate one such experience that exemplifies Bill’s dedication to farm organizations and cooperatives and his ability to have fun doing such. Feel welcome to use the story if you so desire.
I cannot recall the actual date or the reason for our mission to Ottawa. However, after a long day of traveling and meeting with cabinet ministers and senior government officials advocating on behalf of Canadian farmers; a number of farm organization representatives decided to debrief and strategize at a hotel lounge. After some serious discussion and a couple of drinks, Bill walked over to the baby grand piano that was in the lounge, lifted the cover off and sat down at the keyboard. The Bartender immediately walked over to Bill to try to stop him and stopped in his tracks as Bill began to play.
Bill began taking requests and everyone was having a great time except the bartender who was wanting to close the lounge. No one wanted to leave!
After Playing for quite a while, Bill’s best judgment kicked in and he rolled the piece that he was playing into God save the Queen which he sang. Everyone quickly finished their drinks and we got up and left.
