My condolences to you, the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Your father did many great things in his lifetime, and your mother was also an amazing lady. What I remember very clearly is that they were very kind to me when I was growing up and I saw that kindness often, displayed with others as well. I'd like to take the time, right now to wish for peace, health and happiness to flow to Allyson, Glenda, Tannis, Scott and their families. I have not seen you for years but each of you are often in my thoughts. Candy Gebbink (nee Kay)

To the Nelson family We share in your loss today. We also thank you for sharing your Dad with Lloydminster, Alberta, and all of Canada. His faith made him a great servant to our country. I doubt that there is anyone who knows the full extent of Ray's generosity. On a personal note, I appreciated the personal visits and wisdom he shared with a young pastor starting out in ministry. He will be missed. You are in our thoughts and prayers at this time. Mike & Darlene Morgan

At age 79, on his brother Stanley's birthday, Uncle Ray received a new heart because age was not considered the deciding factor. In his own words after the transplant, he said: "God wasn't finished with me yet." My dad was grateful for the loving care he received from his brother over fifty plus years of ministry, highlighted by the Stanley T Nelson Centre at Trinity Western University in Langley BC. Their father, Nels, visited our family in Fargo, North Dakota in 1958, and asked me if I knew for sure that when I die, I would go to Heaven. As a result the same year in September, I made certain about that issue. When Uncle Ray and I talked over the years by telephone, he always mentioned his gratitude for the mercy and grace of God. May the God of all comfort meet the needs of all family members and friends in our mourning. May each of us be certain before our death, that we have discovered that same mercy and grace. "...the Father Himself loves you because you have loved Me and have believed that I came from God." Jesus Christ in John 16:27, NIV "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39, NIV S Kenneth and Ginny Nelson, daughter Becky Kraft, and son, Jim.

We found out about Ray's passing too late to make the funeral but do want you as a family to know that we would have loved to be there. We were so grateful to personally know your Dad and Mom as well as the family. We were thankful for the 15 years of employment that Nelson Homes provided us. It was fun to hear Dad and Ray reminisce about their childhood together - what teases those Hanson/Nelsons were! Your Dad was a loving, loyal man with a heart of gold. We enjoyed a visit with him and your Mom 2 yrs. ago in their home. How he bragged about you guys and the grandkids! We are happy to know he is now in heaven with no more sickness or pain! Our thoughts and prayers are with you today and the coming days. Love, Bill and Audrey Collie

Allyson, Glenda, Tannis and Scott We want to express our deep and sincere condolences to you and your families on your father's passing. Ray Nelson was an impressive man who we loved, respected, admired and held in the highest regard. Although it was many years ago, we have not forgotten and greatly appreciate the sacrifice that he made as a World War 2 veteran who fought for the freedoms we enjoy today. On a personal note, we enjoyed Ray's many visits to the Vancouver area from the 1970's to 1990's and especially appreciated his love and support of his brother Rev. Stanley Nelson, who married Ray and Marie. In the coming days as you deal with your grief and loss, we hope you can find comfort knowing that your father lived an incredible and meaningful life and he is no longer suffering, as he is with the Lord. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you celebrate your father's life today. Love David and Sharon (Nelson) Miachika

Ray was such a special person, a special friend to the family and most especially my father David E Mitchell who also recently passed away. Ray was an initial Director of Alberta Energy Company with my father and was so highly regarded. Ray had time for everybody including myself (David Jr). He told me a story one time I will never forget. Ray asked Dad to attend a special event and Dad refused saying he to attend his son's birthday. Ray repeated that story to me several times over a number of years about how people connect he and my Dad. Ray - you will be sadly missed by all of us. We will be making a contribution to the Alberta Heart Institute as a family.

To the Nelson Family, Your Dad gave me this poem years ago. It was a special gift. I give it to you now and I thank God for your Dad. He was a great encourager! "Thank God for you, good friend of mine, Seldom is friendship such as thine; How very much I wish to be As helpful as you've been to me-- Thank God for you! When I recall from time to time How you inspired this heart of mine, I find myself inclined to pray, "God bless my friend this very day"-- Thank God for you! So often at the throne of grace There comes a picture of your face And then instinctively I pray That God may guide you all the way-- Thank God for you! Someday I hope with you to stand Before the throne at God's right hand, And say to you at journey's end, Praise God, you've been to me a friend -- Thank God for you! With sincere sympathy, John Rodgers

To my cousins, Our families may not have gotten together very often, but my mother Evy told many stories about growing up with Uncle Ray and her other siblings, and he made a big impression on me whenever we did have the opportunity to visit now and then, over the years. Ray and Austin both were so generous and steadfast in their support for my parents, during their years in Thailand and on into retirement; blessings for which our entire family, especially my father Wilf, remains very grateful. Our prayers for God's peace and comfort are with you all. - Dan

Allison, Glenda, Tannis and Scott and families, Our deepest sympathy to each of you, on the passing of your father. Memories of a lifetime come rolling back of time spent with you and your folks. The skiing trips, fishing trips, hauling hay, horse shows, Christmases spent together, will never be forgotten. Uncle Ray will always be not only the Greatest of uncles, but as well he was a good friend. I feel very privileged to have known him and to have been able to work with him. Many wonderful evenings were spent with Ray and Marie in Edmonton while we lived there and Ray always had a new joke to tell as well as the ones that were on occasion repeated, but he always got a laugh. This is a sad occasion, and your grieving will last a while, but he is now with the love of his life Marie, and at home with his Lord and all of his sisters and brothers. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. He will be missed, he was a great man. We love you all. Curt, Maureen, Paige, Kyle, Jamie and Kendra Nelson
