EULOGY A Letter To Leasa Good evening Our Dear Leasa, We know you are listening and watching over us, so pick the fluffiest cloud and have a seat, tell Grampa to pull up a cloud beside you, because you know how Aunties can get long winded. We remember July 18, 1991. Your Mom and Dad could finally announce "We have a Girl." You were chubby and dark, with big dark eyes, lots of hair and you weighed 7 lbs 7 ounces. You were beautiful. No choice, you were going to a house with two rowdy boys, and a huge extended family. Rather quickly, pink invaded your house, along with lacy dresses, frilly socks and headbands. You knew early that a big voice counts and we all knew, yup, We have a girl. Soon, you got your sister Taylor and now the Headon household was even steven, with two girls and two boys. There were birthday parties with your cousins, aunties, uncles, grandparents; Happy Days playschool, Sunday school, swimming lessons, all to get you ready for that big day - school started for you in September 1996. Off to kindergarten with the big kids, leaving that pesky little sister at home. You were beautiful. In elementary we remember you dabbled in it all, figure skating, dance, piano lessons, soccer, learning the recorder, keeping your school work done, that daily chore list on your mother's cupboard almost all done, at least the way you saw it. There was the family holiday to Disneyland, and summer fun at Laurier Lake. You were growing into a fine young lady, you were beautiful. Your early teens and jr. high, like most young girls, was a time of learning who you were, discovering just how big the world is and your first love. You couldn't wait to tell us about him. Not at all bashful, oh, you would willingly give us as many details as we wanted. You talked of this tall, dark, strong, broad shouldered love with such passion like that of any young lady in love. You were beautiful. Professor was the centre of your world, your time was spent with Professor, grooming, trimming, chatting and bonding. It was all about riding lessons, gymkanas and helping your dad hook up the trailer for another roadie. We know those days on the road with your Dad and your horse were very special. High school, more ventures. And those Flames. What was that goalie's name? Oh yeah, Kipper something, just kidding you Leasa. The Flames were playing in Edmonton and off you went. You were working at Bigway and anyone who came in, you were ready to talk Flames. If anyone challenged you, they would only do it once. Your work at Staples and Walmart was great, a loyal employee and good worker. You were beautiful. High school was ending and it was time to get the dress. Off you went with your Mom to get your dress, we held our breath. Would it be spurs, chaps and Professor as your escort? But oh no, you surprised us as always. The gown was beautiful, the hair perfect, your feet hurt and the day was long. You sat on that stage, dazzling. You were beautiful. Lakeland College was your next step, taking off with your best friend, Professor. College girls just want to have fun and that you did. Your mother worried sick, your Dad silently cheered you on, we all marveled - you had made it. You were beautiful. So, Leasa, Grampa probably wants to go look in the fridge by now, and you are a little embarrassed that we talked about you in front of everyone. We do not, cannot and never will understand the reason God called you so soon. We do know that our special angel in death was a special person in life. You were beautiful. There will never be another family supper, Christmas, birthday supper or any other day that goes by without us missing you. And like so many times when we were ready to say grace, we will wait for someone to say "where's Leasa." We will listen for the stomping up the stairs and you belting out "there had better be rice buns left." You were beautiful. P.S. God, we send Leasa to you with heavy hearts and confused minds, but with the knowledge that she will have the peace and joy she has so very much earned in her too short time with us. Please keep us, guide us, watch over us, especially Jordan, and help us all when we are overwhelmed and need you the most. ~ written by Jan Trimble & Carmen Leighton (Aunts) ~ delivered by Jan Trimble In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the SPCA or the charity of the donors choice.
