Helen, when you speak of George, speak not with tears, for thoughts of him should not be sad. Let memories of times you shared give you comfort; for George's life was rich because of you.

I met George for the first time in Hawaii at the wedding of his grandson Will Morlidge to my Daughter. He was a kind and gracious man, just like his son George and grandson Will. When your cherished daughter marries you are concerned about the family she is marrying into. My fears were unfounded as I found George Morlidge and his family to be the “salt of the earth” and a fine, caring family. Shortly thereafter when my daughter was diagnosed with terminal cancer the entire Canadian family surrounded her with care, love and warmth until she died and even in death her memory is kept alive.

Please add our thoughts and condolences along to Helen, George Jr. and family, and Rosemary and family. We grew up with Helen and George as close family friends, starting with Helen as our teacher in the one-room school, then with George in the picture as an admirer and later husband. Later, we visited them almost weekly and sometimes babysat so the 4 parents could all go to the movies.
Last summer, Dorothy and I were able to visit once again after many years and were so impressed with the sense of humour George still showed us (yes, he was going to eat the whole chocolate bar before dinner...and nobody could stop him!)
While there, we also noticed what a loving couple you two were, Helen....so nice to see.
With our love and very kind thoughts,
Ruth and Mike

Sympathy to Helen and family. I enjoyed working with George at the Lloydminster Times and remember a few disagreements he would have with Art Gellert.
