EULOGY given by Edie Henne:
Ray & I have been friends with Knud & Rennie for over forty years. Knud was such a special gentleman and I am so honored to have been asked to give a tribute to his life.
Knud came from Denmark to Canada in 1957, to work on farm exchange in Manitoba. There was no money to be made there, so he came west to work on the oil rigs. He had no background or experience but he didn't mind hard work or getting dirty.
In 1967, Knud met Rennie in Lethbridge, Alberta. He was struck by "German Beauty" and they married in 1968.
Three beautiful daughters were born while living in Kindersley, Sask.: Karen, Kathy & Koreen. His pride and joy and all starting with "K" so he wouldn't forget them.
Knud always saw the happiest side of life and was one of the best fathers. He was a generous man and did all he could to give to his family and friends. Knud was the life of the party and many of you might remember him dressing up in costumes for a laugh out of no where.
Knud found joy in gardening and always found time to plant it, not necessarily to harvest it. He also had a passion for garage sales or auction sales. Finding great deals to bring home, much to the dismay of his family at times. His reply would be, "It was such a good deal and you never know when you might need it!" If you ever wanted to have a serious conversation with Knud, just bring up anything political. Politics was the one serious side of Knud's life.
Stopping in on Knud and Rennie always meant a cup of coffee, visit, and a game of cribbage. Or maybe even canasta, which could go to the wee hours; kids sleeping wherever they could find a spot (on a couch or on the floor). But they never seemed to mind.
He made many trips home to Denmark, most often with someone going along to share the experience - meet family, see his beautiful homeland. Ray and I had the privilege to accompany him and Rennie to Denmark for 3 weeks, a few years ago. We had such a wonderful time seeing the land and meeting the people he spoke so proudly of, over the years. Even recently he took a trip to Denmark with family and as always, he enjoyed every minute of it.
Above all, family was priority for Knud. He and Rennie celebrated their 40th Anniversary a couple of years ago with family and friends gathering to make it complete.
Knud was continually involved in the lives of his daughters, their families, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He could always be found at school events, camp, sports, swimming, or just being together with his children. How wonderful it is that the Lord blessed this world with such a special person as Knud. He could see could see good in most things.
Knud was very much loved by his family and many dear friends and will be dearly missed.
SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO BEDSTEFAR (Grandpa) by Hunter Crone: My Bedstefar was the best Bedstefar anybody could have. He always had a big smile on his face and his happy mood with it. He always looked on the bright side of things. He told funny jokes and made us laugh all the time.
The hymn "In the Garden" was sung, accompanied on the grand piano by Pastor Brad Berkan.
