I am very, very shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. I first met Scott in Calgary in the early 80's as I was very good friends with his brother, Dave. Scott was still attending Pacific University at that time while completing his degree. Scott was always up for some fun and I always enjoyed spending time with him. He would occasionally visit me in the evenings at my summer job to tinker with a project he was working on. Scott was welcomed into our circle of friends and we would spend many evenings together hanging out, listening to his eclectic music collection, and enjoying driving around in his AMC Pacer. I still have a cassette tape that I made from his LP collection. Scott always had time for you. I was once attending a trade show in Edmonton and called him up to see what he was up to. He insisted we attend the midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show that very evening (no regrets). My condolences to his wonderful family.

I just learned of Dr. Poxon’s passing today from someone who recently tried to book an appointment and was told of his passing. He was our eye specialist for many years. Even though we live 2 hours away we would take our entire family for their annual checkups to see Dr. Poxon. He was always very professional and our kids learned to expect one of his quirky jokes. He will be greatly missed. Our condolences to the family and to his colleagues.

I am in complete and utter disbelief about what has occurred since I learned of it a few days ago. I have been unemployed and a bit out of the loop suffering my own hardships, which makes this pill even more difficult to swallow. You just never really know what a person is dealing with, even if they always have a smile on their face. I am so sorry to the family and the friends of this wonderful human being. Rest in peace Scott, you will most definitely be missed.

Oh dear Scott. Our quadding buddy, dive buddy, supplier of corny jokes. Campfires at the lake; and Thanksgiving dinner at the lake will not be the same without you.
I echo what was said previously: 'If some good can come from this I hope it is the reminder to always be there for someone who may be struggling and do our best to make them feel better". We'll miss you.

My sincere condolences to Dr. Poxon’s family and staff. This is so heartbreaking and I feel for all of you. We have gone to see him for years. His knowledge and manner were impressive. Just last Dec he examined my 95 year old mother for what I thought was progressive blindness. However he quickly determined that she had scar tissue from her old cataract surgery. He arranged for her to see Dr Okeefe in Battleford for laser treatment. Now some people would say she is 95, in a wheelchair and in a nursing home, why bother? But not Dr Poxon! And for that we will be forever grateful as she can see again! This has greatly improved her quality of life. And I am thankful that I had the opportunity to personally thank him! RIP

Dr. Poxon was one of a kind. My 30 year career with him flew by. He always told me my my family came before my job and he facilitated that. When payday came the checks were handed out by him personally so that he could “thank you for all your hard work”. In the winter he was at the door with his coat on ready to plug our cars in for us. In the evening when we were ready to go home they were always swept off and we were reminded to start them so we didn’t have to be cold. Every morning he asked if he could make us coffee. Birthdays were always recognized with a cake and two cards, one for the staff to sign and one from him. All those little things that showed he cared. Many times we were told that we were like his family and he felt his patients were his extended family. I can’t tell you how many times the patients would tell us “wow I’ve never had an eye exam as thorough as that”. He spent the time he needed, always (and many times frustrating the receptionist haha). I will miss you Dr P. I hope you are at peace and there’s some good fishing in heaven.

I heard the name before I met the man.
I saw his building before I met him.
I heard how beautiful his soul was before I experienced it.
Then one day, he came into the bank, I attended to him and found out I was helping this man I heard about, I was happy to have met him.
I looked forward to see him at the bank. We would talk abit and of course he would leave me with a smile on my face or an out burst laugh.
He always have a joke.
He had a positive energy that attracts my soul.
RIP Dr. Poxon you affect lives.

We are still in a state of shock and disbelief here. He was my optometrist for 32 years since he first came to Lloydminster. We considered him almost like a family member. He has been the optometrist for our whole household, including my kids. Many times we have repeated his jokes to others or mentioned something funny he said. His political jokes were very good. He was like the gentle giant. I enjoyed discussing fishing and lake life with him.
The tragic nature of his passing will haunt us for a long time. I am saddened there will be no service, but we respect his wishes. I know it would have been standing room only. If some good can come from this I hope it is the reminder to always be there for someone who may be struggling and do our best to make them feel better. I know his close circle of friends did just this and I hope they do not blame themselves in any way. May God have mercy on his family and friends in this difficult time. Since I know how much he loved A & W, next time I have a Teen burger I will remember him. We will sure miss him.
