To my cousins Ron, Dona, Allan & Shirley. I was so sorry to read of your dear Mom's passing. I didn't see Auntie Lee very much growing up, but I will always remember her as a beautiful, impeccably dressed woman with her hair and makeup done just so. I was at the Scherger family reunion many years ago that she organized. It was a wonderful success and a lot of fun and that was down to all her hard work and planning, Take care. Your cousin Carol Lindsay

With great sadness, we announce the loss of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Leona Gramlich, née Scherger. Grandma Lee passed peacefully with family by her side on Friday, June 26, 2020 at the age of 78 after a battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Lee was born on July 12, 1941 in Macklin, Saskatchewan and was raised on the family farm south of Cosine, Saskatchewan. She enjoyed helping out with meals, caring for her younger siblings and other work around the farmhouse. She valued family, community, compassion and hard work. She was a faithful person and a devoted Catholic.
Before she became “Grandma Lee,” she attended Ackerman School, about 2 ½ miles from the family farm. Lee enjoyed gardening, baking and sewing. She became a talented seamstress and made clothes and blankets for family and friends. Lee raised her own family on the Gramlich farm 8 miles west of Smiley, Saskatchewan. She also worked at the Heritage Manor in Kindersley, Saskatchewan for 25 years before retiring at the age of 63.
Grandma Lee was well known in her community. When friends and family visited her, they would be spoiled with her delicious German baking, a huge heartfelt hug and a beautiful smile. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren became her world. Grandma Lee was best known for her open-door policy, loving nature and sense of humour. She always had a warm meal, kind heart and an open ear for anyone in need. Later on, Grandma Lee relocated to Lloydminster, Alberta and then to the Riverside Health Complex in Turtleford, Saskatchewan where she spent her final years.
Lee is survived by: son, Ron (Pat) Gramlich, and his children, Bruce Gramlich (Mark Haroun), Falon (Dwight) Callfas and their children, Wyatt, Sawyer, and Harper, and Jennifer Gramlich (Jay Coutts), and Jayme Gramlich (Jarrett Hamm); daughter, Dona (Duane) Connor, and her children, Bona (Rocky) Perkins and their children, Jaden, Tyce and Daxtyn, Pamela Connor and her children Isabell and Ellysha, and Ashley (Roy) Schmalz and their child, Acetyn; son, Allen (Jennifer) Gramlich, and his children, Rob (Jolene) Gramlich and their children, Sydney and Paige, Taylor Gramlich, Konnor McLeod, and Declan Gramlich; daughter, Linda Shirley, and her children, Labrina Shirley and her child, Malias, Janeesa Shirley, Landon Shirley, and his child, Jayson, Tyrell Tony and Blaze McAdam; brothers, Mike (Beverly) Scherger and Valentine (Betty) Scherger; sisters, Loretta Scherger and Otilla (Metro) Wasylenchuk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lee is predeceased by: her parents, Raphael and Mary Scherger; four brothers; four sisters; grandson, Shawn Gramlich, and great grandson, Austin Gramlich.
Because of these unprecedented times, and to ensure the health and safety of all those who Lee loved, we will celebrate Lee’s life and 80th birthday tentatively in July of 2021. Details will follow closer to that date.
The family would like to thank you for all your condolences, thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We welcome donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada as an expression of sympathy instead of gifts or flowers.
McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements.
