My condolences to the Graham family on Karen's passing. I learned this while searching the internet for her. Thank-you for including a picture of Karen and I in the beautiful memorial video. It truly touched my heart.I thought of Karen often over the 40 years since I last saw her.
Karen made me feel at ease, from our first meeting in 1978 at the start of Katimavik. She was warm, smiling, and welcoming amongst 30 new faces. During that first week we slept outside under the stars,to escape of our temporary overcrowded quarters. We experienced the Northern Lights dancing across the sky. We were listening to Karen's cassette tape of Paul McCartney. A truly magical moment.
Karen's Katimavik group stayed to work in town.I lived and worked at a bush camp with my group, building a log cabin. She came out with a group leader to help us de-bark logs. She was always there to dig in and work hard whenever needed. She was never empty handed when she came to visit always giving you something.
There were many more Katimavik adventures, including our trek across Canada after the program was over.We relied on each other on our journey along with help from friends and our families along the way. We had lots of fun and Good Times.
I was happy to see she went back to her roots in her beautiful Saskatchewan, to be with her loving family. She will be missed.
With sympathy, Joanne Andrascik

My sincere sympathy to the entire family on Karen's untimely passing. When I was a young gal she helped teach swimming lessons at Manitou. She was so good to me and the other kids. Such a pleasant person. My thoughts are with you all. Love Myra
