Obituary of John Grant

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On December 13, 2020 John Grant,  loving husband, father and grandfather passed away in his home at the age of 60.

John, better known as "Johnny" by loved ones, was born on January 29, 1960 in Vermilion, Alberta to Harry and Shirley Grant. At the age of 18 he started his long career as a truck driver. He drove on the ice roads up to the diamond mines in the northwest territories all the way down to the great state of Texas and all the long roads in between.

John married Laurilee Thompson on October 18, 1980 and raised 3 amazing daughters, his RAT pack (Rochelle, Amanda,Tracie) as he lovingly called them. He was so proud to walk every single one down the aisle and adored all of his new son-in-laws, who he cherished like his own sons. Then came the arrival of his grand kids which he was present for every single birth. He loved his grandchildren with every part of his being, especially when he was able to share his love of camping, hunting and fishing with them.

John was predeceased by: his parents, Harry and Shirley Grant. He is survived by his loving wife, Laurilee; his daughters, Rochelle (Kris, Kaitlyn and Declan) Lawrence, Amanda (Randy, Avery and Alaina) Lorenz, Tracie (Jeremy, Ethan) Holt; his sisters, Isabel (Camile) Joly of Edmonton, Catherine Tranmer of Wainwright, Teresa ( Jerry) Butz, of Clandonald, Diane (Denis) Gerik of Vermilion. Susan (John) Gould of Islay, Margie (Jim Schamber) of Sherwood Park, Brenda Clark of Wainwright, Leanne (Allen) Clark of Vermilion; and many many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor during his favourite season and at his favourite lake.

In lieu of flowers, the family would love to plant trees in his memory in their yards. They would also like to offer donating to the causes he held so dear: STARS, Lloydminster & District SPCA or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
