Edwin Keith Olsen passed away peacefully in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on February 10, 2012 at the age of 68 years, following a struggle with cancer. Keith, the eldest son of Fred & Dora Olsen, was born November 2, 1943 in the Lashburn hospital. Keith completed his public school education from rural Beechwood School and his high school education from Neilburg High School in 1961. That fall he joined the College of Education, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon. In 1963, he accepted a teaching post in the Lloydminster Junior High School, where he taught for two years. Following this, he taught for one year in the Chilliwack district of British Columbia. In 1966, he returned to Saskatchewan where he entered the ministry and at the end of 1969, he went to Pakistan, where he spent the last 42 years engaged in mission work. Keith is survived by his loving mother, Dora Olsen of Red Deer, AB; three brothers: Ross (Marilyn) of Lethbridge, AB; Roy (Elaine) of Rocanville, SK; & Victor (Leanor) of Lloydminster, AB; seven nieces & nephews; seventeen great nieces & nephews; two aunts, Olwin Olsen of Saskatoon, SK & Shirley Olsen of Lacombe, AB as well as numerous cousins and his fellow labourers in the Work and a host of loving friends around the world. He was predeceased by his father Fred in 2000, his grandparents, six uncles, three aunts and a great nephew. The funeral service for Keith was conducted from the Lashburn Community Hall, Lashburn, SK on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Dale Shultz, Mike Hassett, Rick Larson, Garry Bailey and Marvin Tschetter officiating. The hymns sung were "If All Things Were Mine", "There Is No Gain", and "Tis Not In Vain To Yield" accompanied on the piano by Adrienne Sinclair. The pallbearers were Lawrence Olsen, Shane Stafford, Jarvis Olsen, Phil Stewart, Neil Olsen & Tim Shultz. The ushers were Kevin Cowan, Steve Shultz, Jack Reddekopp, Scott McChesney, Dennis Morris, Terry Johnson, Dustin Collins and Braden Pihrag. The interment was held in the Wycollar Cemetery. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. Card of Thanks: The family of the late Keith Olsen would like to thank everyone who sent condolences either by card, email, flowers or in person. The family would also like to thank Dr. Lois Stewart & her husband Dick for the care they gave Keith in their home after he came home sick until his death, as well as all those in Saskatoon who had a part in helping with Keith's care. We would like to thank the Lashburn Museum Board for providing & serving the lunch and to all who brought dessert. A special thanks to the RM of Wilton municipal police officers for traffic control when we went down to the cemetery and a very special thank you to our friends in Lloydminster who provided the family supper after the funeral. We would also like to thank Glenn, Joel & Dave McCaw and the rest of the staff at McCaw Funeral Service for their professional service & kindness. Donations in memory of Keith may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
