Obituary of Christine Masson

Christine Harriet Masson was born May 10, 1944 at Saddle Lake First Nation to Lawrence and Julia Hunter and graduated into Heaven at age 76 on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.

 

Christine leaves to mourn: her sons, Lazarus (Doreen), Jacob (Leona), and adopted son, Dennis Wolfe; daughters, Muriel (Roger), Coreen, Rhonda (Bruce), and Deborah; adopted daughters, Gloria Littlebear and Jeannie Pewapsconias; 28 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.

 

Christine was predeceased by: her father, Lawrence Hunter (1962); mother, Julia (Quinney) Hunter (1964); her husband of 48 years, Harry Masson in 2011; brothers, David (1981), Raymond (1995), Henry (2000), Robert (2001), Paul (2001), George (2006), Ernest (2020); her sister, Jessie in 1998; son, Vincent Chief (2018); infant grandbabies that she is just meeting now and looking after for us with our dad.

 

Christine was the youngest of seven brothers and one sister. She was raised to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus. She met her love and life partner at one of the camp meetings her family attended. She came from a family of musicians, and played the accordion and piano with pride. This is passed on to her great grandchildren.

 

Christine took on many jobs during and as soon as she was done raising her children. She was a bus driver, medical transportation driver, janitor, court support worker, guard/security worker in Loon Lake, chambermaid, cook/caterer, certified home care worker, and a foster parent.

 

Christine took great concern over all her children, making sure they were fed and were comfortable when we made our visits to her home. Her health declined after the loss of her husband, Harry and foster son, Vincent, Deborah, her youngest daughter took care of her during that time for over 8 years, mom was very close to her grandson Darius Francois she called her “boss man”, they were inseparable. Due to increased medical needs mom spent her last four months at Jubilee Home in Lloydminster.

A Private Graveside Service will be held on January 5, 2021 at the United Church Cemetery, Saddle Lake, Alberta.
