After speaking with many people about Dad it doesn’t surprise me that his sense of humour is one of the things he is most remembered for. He had a great sense of humour and a great knack for making me stick my foot in my mouth. That always amused him LOL One of his favourite stories was of how, when I was little and we went to a restaurant, he would have me order my own drink because I would ask for an orange coke.
He was also a great business man and when he was in Birch River was involved in the community. He told me stories of when he was a volunteer firefighter and was involved in the town council. I don’t remember exactly what his involvement was but I do believe it had something to do with the fact that he was the manager of the CO-OP. In addition to the jobs that Karen listed, he also worked at the CO-OP garage and store in Flin Flon.
Over the years I have heard many stories of Dad’s life. Most of them were of some stunt that he pulled on someone. Everything from squirting his sister with a water pistol so she chased him down the street with her slip in her hand to him putting a rubber snake in his own bed just to scare Lorraine. Aunty Rita was another favourite target of his.
Dad also like to travel. He made many trips to many parts of Canada as well as trips to the states. He loved spending winters in Texas. I loved the time he took us to Disney World in Florida. He always seemed to have a good time with whoever he met.
I also enjoyed the fishing trips with him. He liked to tell of how he and Grandpa would get frustrated because Becky and I would always catch either the biggest or most fish..
You are and will forever be missed. Love you Dad.

I'm sad to hear of Uncle Sandy's passing. I met him (for the first time I remember) when I was 11 and found out quickly that he had the best sense of humour and enjoyed a good laugh. I loved how he made me feel that my words were just as important as anyone else's even though I was just a kid. To honor his memory, I will try to find humour where I can in my daily life. He is missed.

Uncle Sandy. A neat guy. I have many special memories starting with him giving me my first job at The Big Island Drive In. I was 14(just yesterday) and made and sold popcorn. Remember the Double Headers and Triple ones? Way past my bedtime but I’ve always been a trooper. I can see Uncle Sandy with a big stogie?cigar in his mouth, I loved working there with Uncle Sandy, Auntie Lorraine and cousin Jim, I remember when Sandra and Becky would come up and I liked getting to know his girls. He loved them.
Many years later I would visit Auntie Lorraine and Uncle Sandy would show my sons Zac and Nigel his huge Aquariums, They loved the attention he gave them.
Uncle Sandy you are missed, My many Angels are with you.

Uncle Sandy will be remembered for his highly developed and quirky sense of humor. He was a calm, kind and sweet man always looking to find the fun in any situation.
He worked at a number of jobs over the years, from managing Co-op stores in Birch River and Gladstone Manitoba, to driving for McKeen’s Trucking in Flin Flon and running the Big Island Drive-In Theater he bought from his parents in the early 1970's.
After selling the Drive-In and retiring to Spruce Lake Saskatchewan he enjoyed the small town comradery even to acting in some of the community plays. We've been told his ad-libbing produced a lot of laughs.
Anyone that knew him enjoyed his company.
He will be greatly missed by all.
