Obituary of Gary MacDonald

It is with immense heartache that we announce the passing of Gary MacDonald, on April 19th, 2021. 

Gary was born August 1, 1961 in Lloydminster, Sk to Ronald and Doreen MacDonald.  Gary finished “3/4” of his grade 12 and began work in the oilfield right after. Gary and Luanne married in 1984 and started their family with their loving sons Travis and Darcy, whom Gary was so proud of. In 2004 Gary and Luanne began their company, Spectra Oilfield.  Gary dedicated a lot of time to growing the business and made many friendships along the way. Gary and Luanne became grandparents in 2014 and one of Gary’s favourite things to do was spend time loving and spoiling his grandchildren. Gary was so loved and will always be in our hearts. 

Gary will be remembered by: his wife, Luanne MacDonald of 37 years; sons, Travis (Kristen) MacDonald and Darcy MacDonald (Kacie Nault); grandchildren, Eberlee, Asher, Millie and Harper MacDonald; parents, Ronald and Doreen MacDonald; sister, Joanne (Don) Davis; brothers, Mitch and Glen MacDonald; sister-in-law, Diane MacDonald; brother-in-law, Rick Kirkland; mother-in-law, Rose Cressman; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

Gary was predeceased by: brother, Ken MacDonald; grandparents, Donald & Helen MacDonald and Jack & Agnes Eaton; great nephew, Alex Heimdal; and father-in-law, James Cressman.

Due to the restrictions in place the Celebration of Life for Gary will be by invitation only at the McCaw Funeral Chapel on Tuesday April 27th, 2021 at 2:00 PM. The service will be live-streamed and posted on the McCaw Website under Gary’s obituary at the time of service. 

Donations in memory of Gary can be made to Stollery Children’s Hospital or STARS Air Ambulance.
