Obituary of June Clark

Please share a memory of June to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

In loving memory of June Margaret Clark of Bonnyville, Alberta.

June was the first of four children born to Brian & Pearl Payne in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on June 15, 1926. They moved to homestead in Beacon Hill, Saskatchewan in 1933.

She married the love of her life, Red (Hubert) Clark, in May 1947. They had a cattle ranch & sawmill on the south side of the Beaver River near Beacon Hill.

In 1955, Red rejoined the RCAF (he was a veteran from WWII). June took to military life with all the transfers. She made lifelong friends at each place (she wrote many letters every month) & always made a cheery home. They also enjoyed card games and square dancing. In 1970, Mom joined TOPS in North Bay, Ontario. She reached her goal weight, graduated to KOPS and by maintaining her weight kept her KOPS status for close to 40 years.

She was a great cook & baker; her cinnamon buns were legendary. She was good at sewing & gardening. She also worked as a cook and in retail to supplement the family income as they moved from province to province.

In the early 1980’s they started going to Arizona for 6 months in the winter. She finally had time to learn how to swim & ride a bicycle. They took square dance classes in the afternoons and danced 5 nights a week for over 20 years before they sold their trailer in Mesa.

In the summer they would have all their grandchildren together at the lake. She also later helped with her great grandchildren.

June passed away peacefully at Bonnyville Extendicare on July 17, 2021, at the age of 95 years.

June is lovingly survived by: her four children, Joy Laycock of Edmonton, Geri Thibeault of Bonnyville, Larry (Marni) Clark of Strathmore and Pat (Rose) Clark of Lac La Biche County; nine grandchildren, Todd (Maria) Laycock, Greg (Keri) Laycock, Lori (Bruce) Atkinson, Dawn Thibeault, Mark (Chelsea) Thibeault, Jarrad (Tina) Malley, Tricia March, Trudy (Allen) Warren & Trina Boostrom; 21 great grandchildren, Emily, Brendan, Ben, Dawson, Madison, Curtis, Kim, Zack, Zander, Zoey, Henley, Olivia, Brittany, Brenden, Megan, Brooke, Julia, Maria, Darcy, Shilo & Shamus; four great-great grandchildren, Ashlynn, Wellesley, Everleigh & Adalynn; sister, Jane (Walter) Kowalozuk of Whitecourt, AB; and numerous nieces and nephews.

June was predeceased by: her husband of 58 years, Red (Hubert) Clark in 2005; brothers, Doug and Bob Payne; sons-in-law, Ron Thibeault and Basil Laycock; and great granddaughter Tessaundra.

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in memory of June can be made to Tyler Chislett Memorial Fund (in care of the Bonnyville Health Foundation) or the donor's charity of choice.
