Obituary of Abe Kauenhofen

Please share a memory of Abe to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with deep sorrow and much love, that we mourn the passing of our father, Abram Kehler Kauenhofen who passed away at Lloydminster Hospital, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, August 7, 2021 at the age of 58 years.

Abe will be lovingly remembered by: his two daughters, Mel (Derek) Jensen, Jennell (Stephen) Toews; five grandchildren, Austin, Brycesyn, Alexis, Mackenzie and Sadie; six brothers, Frank (Debbie), Pete (Jessie), Chiro (Barb), John, Henry and Willie (Joey); sister, Annie (Jim); as well as numerous relatives and friends.

Abe is predeceased by: his parents, Frank and Susanna; and two sisters, Susie and Netty.

Abe was born in Sante Claira, Mexico and moved to Steinbach, Manitoba with his family in 1972. He welcomed his first daughter in 1984, and his second in 1991. He was a great father, always spending his free time making sure we were happy and cared for. We will always remember all the time spent with us, going for walks, watching scary movies, watching his favourite TV show, The Simpsons, and listening to him laugh all evening long when we had family and friends over every weekend growing up. Dad had the best barbecues, and loved cooking his famous greasy burgers for his friends and family. He was always making everyone laugh, whether it was with his hilarious t-shirts, or his inappropriate jokes. Abe worked for many years at Friendly Family Farms, Schmitdke Millwork and Loewen Windows, until he moved to Lloydminster, Saskatchewan in 2012 and worked at Home Hardware. He took an early retirement in 2015 so that he could spend more time with his grandchildren. Abe spent a lot of time walking, most often with his grandchildren in tow in the most recent years. He was always willing to help his family and friends out, whether it was big or small.

Gone too soon, yet we can cherish our special memories of the precious time we had with Dad. His sense of humour and sometimes questionable dinners will be sorely missed. Dad, we hope you have unlimited beer and cherry cobbler waiting for you when you get there!

As per Abe's wishes, there will be no formal service. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Should friends desire, donations to assist with the costs related to Abe's unexpected passing, would be greatly appreciated.
