Obituary of Oliver Sandwick

Oliver Ivan Sandwick was born in the family home located on NE-36-54-19-W3, across the Dexter School on November 30, 1931.  He was the first son born to Ivan and Olive Sandwick.  His siblings were Odney, Cora, Albert and Irene.

Oliver married Edith Crawford and together they raised their three children Doug, Debbie and Rodney.  Oliver spent years working road construction and in the oil field both as a rig hand and in later years as a cooks helper with the cook, Edith.  He also farmed grain and cattle on their farm north of Glaslyn.

Olivers’ work took him to various parts of Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC.  In later years, Oliver and Edith travelled to Arizona during the winter with many of their family and friends.  They purchased a property at Kivima-Moonlight Bay and in Glaslyn where they spent their retirement years before moving to the Manor in Edam.  His last few years were spend in the Lady Minto Nursing Home where Oliver peacefully passed on August 18, 2021 at the age of 89.

Oliver is survived by: his children, Debbie Locke, Doug (Marilyn) Sandwick and Rodney (Linda) Sandwick; grandchildren, Shelley (Kelvin) Locke, Shane (Joanne) Locke, Tyler (Jill) Sandwick, Lenny (Chantelle) Sandwick , Bryce Sandwick, Erin (Rob) Kinar, Riley (Michelle) Sandwick and Leah (Bobby) Taylor; great grandchildren, Hailey, Andrew, Hunter, Wyatt, Tristan, Jemiah, Parker, Emmett, Rory, Madison, Brooklyn, Oskar, Kori, Paige, Nicole, Daivanee and Pierce; sisters, Cora McNinch and Irene (Joe) Jones; brother, Albert Sandwick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Oliver was predeceased by: his loving wife, Edith; son, Murray; son-in-law, Bill Locke; his parents; and sister, Odney. 

The Memorial Service for Oliver will be conducted from Turtleford Good Shepherd United Anglican Church, Turtleford, Saskatchewan on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Oliver may be made to Lady Minto Health Care Centre.
