Obituary of Alyson Schira

Please share a memory of Alyson to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful daughter, sister, partner and mother, Alyson Whitney Schira on November 15, 2021 near Hope, British Columbia, Canada at the young age of 35 years.

Alyson was a loving mother to Lacey (16), Kohen (13), Makynli (11), and Hunter (8). She enjoyed spending time with them playing games, baking, cooking, on the beach or on a sledding hill, camping, doing crafts and other numerous activities. Dallas and Alyson were successfully co-parenting their four children, remaining a strong family unit while starting new chapters on their own. Their kids were first and foremost in their hearts.

Being a doula was her first love of careers.  She helped bring many babies into their parent’s arms and made a difference in many mother’s lives with birth education. She was also an accomplished tattoo artist, and her many friends, family and clients will forever bare her artistic touch. She was most recently employed by Servus Credit Union and loved the challenge of her job, surprising herself with abilities she never realized she possessed.

Alyson will be remembered for her brilliant smile, her infectious laugh and her crazy joking, fun-loving style. She welcomed anyone who came to her door for their friendship and company. She was a lover of animals; from baby birds who have fallen from nests, to hamsters, dogs, cats, goats, chickens, ducks and guinea fowl. She loved to fish and would even hunt occasionally and was quite proud of shooting a coyote that was trying to raid her chicken coop. She loved time at the beach with her kids and siblings.

Alyson's love of travel started in high school with trips to Ottawa and California. She’s travelled to Toronto with her sister Stephanie, to Banff with sister-in-law Dana and friend, Tabitha, went on a trip to Nashville with Dallas and friends, and then Mexico with Dallas. She had caught the travel bug and was planning more wonderful adventures in the future.

Alyson will be forever remembered and greatly missed by: her husband, Dallas and their children: Lacey, Kohen, Makynli and Hunter of Lloydminster, Sk; along with her parents, Wayne and Rhonda Reed of Spiritwood, Sk; siblings, Stephanie (Josh) Olsen of Lethbridge, AB, Morgan (Brigetta) Reed of Lloydminster, Sk, and Daylin (Gabe) Sumners of Canwood, Sk; grandmother, Fern Reed of Elrose, Sk; the Schira family: Charles and Claire Schira of Spiritwood, Sk, Clayton (Lindy) Schira of Weyburn, Sk, Darcy (Erin) Schira of Lloydminster, Ab, Warren Schira (Tasha Keith) of Big Shell Lake, Sk and Dana (Dave) of Kitscoty, Ab; Alyson was a proud auntie to her many nieces and nephews: Jessica, Kristian, Quinton, Kian, Riley, Ciarin, Jonah, Olivia, Amelia and Owen, Ember, Auryn, Vonni, Broden, Ryker, Karver, Kru, and Braydee; Alyson will also live on in the memories of her aunts, uncles and cousins and so many close and dear friends.
