To The Sheppard Family
Sending deepest condolences on the loss of your patriarch.
Rex was a special man and an wonderful husband, father, grandpa and friend. He had huge hands and the heart of a lion. He was very curious and asked the most interesting questions. He wanted to learn about everything. He loved to tease and then laugh when you squirmed. We rode Pearl the bucking horse! We enjoyed cutting the grass on the John Deere mower. We learned standard shift driving the truck to bring meals out to the boys. We called the cows home in the evening by yelling “Cow bus!!! Cow bus!!!” as loud as we could with Rex laughing at us. We washed and waxed our cars in his shop. We cleaned chickens in the fall. We helped seed the ENORMOUS garden and then helped prepare the produce for storage over winter. We skated late into the night on the HUGE outdoor rink nestled in the trees complete with boards and lighting. We cooked yummy meals and baked many cakes, cookies and pies. We played cards and shuffleboard against Rex - a tough competitor with a twinkle in his eye.
The Sheppard’s home was always open to neighbours and visitors with a coffee and a treat. There are many great memories of a life well lived.
Thinking of the Sheppard family at this sad time. Rex will be so missed and never forgotten.
With love from,
Lori (Funk) Bailey

We are sad to hear of Rex’s passing; please accept our condolences on your loss Joyce, Glen & family. I will always remember Rex as being a really nice man, a true gentleman, kind, calm and friendly. Oddly enough, the time I remember best was many miles from home, in Needles, CA. It was there that we reunited, socialized, played games & went out for dinner. Fond memories that will stay in our hearts. Rex, you left behind a wonderful legacy.
Love Wayne & Lynne Willoughby

Dear Auntie Joyce, I would like to say how much I loved uncle Rex and I always remember how he showed interest in my life and gave me hugs and listened to me. He did joke a lot but he was a Sheppard and we were all bad for teasing and joking.
I will always remember every Christmas spent as our two families came together to spend every holiday. Auntie you are not alone, I feel a great loss and as this chapter ends, it will not be forgotten. Dad loved uncle, he talked much about him and his memories of him, he was proud of him and loved him so much.Dad was always very excited to get together with you and Uncle. Glen and Shane and Tannis, you are all very special to us, remember we are family and my heart goes out to you for the loss of your father. I know you all adored and respected him lots and your love for him was very evident. My heart aches for the loss of my another wonderful Uncle. We have another angel looking after us. God bless your family !
