I knew Mrs. Pearl Maess since I was a child myself and came to Turtleford Pioneer Girls. All the leaders had the names of birds....I remember Canary was Mrs. Sylvia Bloom and Bluebird was Mrs. Margaret Bloom. I believe Mrs Maess was "Dove" and if I am right that name suited her although she could sing like a Lark or a Canary too so if I am wrong about the name I am sorry. Mrs Maess had the voice of an angel and a heart of pure gold. I remember her well from so many summers spent at Island Lake Bible Camp. She was the warmest most embracing and loving woman. I am sure she reached many souls for Jesus in just her living testimony. She treated all people like old friends. In a place where it was not easy to get to know people and people tended to stick with the families who had lived in the area for ages, it was somewhat daunting for a child to be living with her elderly grandmother and more or less on her own as far as family went but Mrs. Maess was my "Pal" in Pioneer Girls and she treated me so much like family when I went to her lovely home in the country. It was Mrs. Maesss who arranged for me to be able to come to the summer camp at Island Lake and I loved it so much there. I looked forward to her visits to the camp and her teaching of crafts. God bless Mrs. Maess for her kindness to a child. I never forgot this lovely, sparkling, enthusiatic lady! I know Jesus will remember her too for all her goodness, her Christian living and her loving tender heart. He will have a wonderful bright and special place for Pearl....for she was a truly precious gem. Pearl Lost child, alone and shy When I was a little girl But Jesus in his wisdom Sent to me a Pearl She taught me cooking, crafts She showed me motherly love She spoke of God and goodness We girls called her Dove. For she was gentle and sweet And she could sing like a bird With the voice to bring joy To all hearts who heard. She lived for Jesus She died in His grace Now Pearl is seeing Jesus loving face. She sings with angels She's found sweet release Pearl, a jewel in His crown Is with Jesus at peace. No more loving angel Could watch over you Honor Pearl by loving others Just as she used to do. I won't ever forget your kindness Pearl. Love Karen X See you in Heaven someday. Thank you for teaching me about Jesus. I have followed. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.Psalm 119:105
