This is one of my favourite pictures of Grandma❤️
She loved zipping around on this garden tractor mowing in the summer and working her garden in the fall. She let Elesha, Amy and I take the wheel when we got older because she wanted us to have some responsibility( plus, earn a little pocket money), but she was out in the front years keeping an eye on the situation because she never liked how the tractor left tire marks in the nice side yard beside the front step. Grandma push mowed that side of the yard well into her 80’s and loved the electric mower mom bought her. “ I never thought that electric stuff would work, but you just turn the key and away you go, nothing to it!”
You can see her brown car in the background. This is the car I remember her driving the most. She called it her “working” car because she took it everywhere. To town for groceries or the field to check on harvest or down to the pig barn. I loved going for ride with Grandma because boy did she go fast!
I was so fortunate to have grow up with Grandma so close and to make a life time of memories with her❤️

Donald, Dorthy and family,
I truly wish l could be with you at this time. I am, however, with you in my thoughts and memories of aunt Mary.
I will always remember Mary as a kind, warm , caring and very thoughtful lady.
As a teenager my formative summer holidays ( 13 to 18 ) 50 + years ago were spent in PV.
I had tons of family. Grandma McAmmond, uncle Joe, and uncles, and aunts, Bill and Delvia, Lloyd and Bessie, and Johnny and Mary all opened their homes to myself, Donna, Gary, and Karen at a very important time in our lives.
My rotation to Mary’s and Johnie’s farm provided me the skills of hard work and discipline. My work experience was : picking rocks, stooking, baling, bring chop and water to the pigs and of course cleaning the pig barn.
Mary could be warm and caring but also firm as Donald and Dorthy know. As l remember the routine was a farm breakfast ( fresh eggs, homemade bread, and bacon) then out to work, lunches would be soup, all fresh vegetables, and meat. But what l remembered the most was Mary making all of us lay down in our rooms and have nap ( serious business) 12:30 to 1:15 then back out to work . Dinner was superb with all farm grown foods, ( vegetables, potatoes chicken, pork chops etc. The smells we’re delicious. Then early to bed and start again early the next morning.
Those memories are vivid in my mind and when l need a peaceful time l think of PV and Mary helped make those memories possible.
You will look back on the precious memories and find peace in knowing your mother was a amazing person.
