Obituary of Colin Budd
Colin Lawrence Budd passed away suddenly in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, on October 25, 2022, at the age of 40 years.
Colin will be forever loved and remembered by: his wife, Katie Ryan; daughter, Olivia and baby due in March; parents, Larry and Noreen; brothers, Brennan (Laura) and Joel (Brittany); mother-in-law, Ann; brothers-in-law, Jordan (Stacey), Patrick (Coralynne) and Ian; aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as many nephews and nieces: Dane, Paxton, Walker, Noah, Skyler, Kayden, Paige, Payton, Aisley, Amelia and Michael.
Colin is predeceased by: his grandparents.
Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, in 1982, Colin grew up in Luseland, Saskatchewan. Raised on a farm, Colin was an active athlete, playing hockey and many school sports. He went on to graduate from Lethbridge College with a Communication and Media Studies diploma, and the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology with a Recreation and Leisure Management diploma.
Professionally, Colin was a reporter for several community newspapers in Saskatchewan, including the Lloydminster Source where he was the editor for many years. He took his passion for writing and communications to Synergy Credit Union and to Federated Co-operatives Limited, where he was a senior communications advisor.
Personally, Colin was an incredibly loving father, avid sports fan (Oilers, Blue Jays and the NY Jets), news junkie, fan of live music (a Pearl Jam fan club member) and comedy, and a community-minded man. There were few sports, if any, he wasn’t passionate about, including his fantasy leagues. He coached Olivia’s first soccer team and would have coached and cheered her on more if he could have. Colin was a friend to all pups, including his furry pal, Ruby.
Forever and a day wouldn’t have been long enough. As Olivia says, “he was the best daddy ever.”
A Celebration of Life for Colin will be held from McCaw Funeral Chapel, Lloydminster, Alberta on Friday, November 4, 2022 at 2:00 PM.
