Dion Knorr

Obituary of Dion Knorr

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our cherished husband, father, brother and friend, Dion Knorr.

He was born in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan and had the opportunity to live in many small towns in Saskatchewan with his family growing up. Each move brought new lifelong friendships and the opportunity to join new sports teams.

It was at one of these small towns he met his lifelong best friend and partner in life, Cindy Dobson and they were married in 1995. The next year, the pride and joy of his life warmed his heart on a frigid day in November.  As he held Brendan for the first time, he experienced the unconditional, lifelong love of a parent and child.

Dion had a successful 30 year career with Husky/Cenovus and worked at the original Pikes Peak steam plant, and for the past number of years, at the Lloydminster Upgrader. Through his work, he made many life long friends.

In 2006, we built our family cabin at Lac des Iles in the Meadow Lake Provincial Park. It was here where he found the most peace and joy. Ice fishing was his true passion and March Madness was a time to gather on the ice, BBQ, have a few shots and share stories with friends. And of course, catch the odd 20+ pound pike.

His circle of friends soon grew to include many lake friends and their families. The evening fire was a time to gather and tell stories and Dion loved to avidly participate. The music was always on, the birch fire going and the beer was cold.

Although we are heart broken, we feel blessed to have shared his short life on earth with him. We are all better people for having had him in our lives.

Dion is survived by: his loving wife of 27 years, Cindy; cherished son, Brendan; grandson and pet buddy, RUGER; siblings, Dawn (Gord) Dembrowski, Connor and Courtney; Chad (Jo); Leah (Dean) Weninger, Riley, Logan, Braden and Caleb; father-in-law, Bill Dobson; sisters-in-law, Connie (Ross) Martin, Ken and Emily; and Leanne (Andy Aronson); and MANY aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dion was pre-deceased by: his parents, Richard and Pat Knorr; and mother-in-law, Eileen Dobson.
