Obituary of Jared Scutt

Jared (Brook) Scutt passed away on Sunday, August 6^, 2023, at the age of 37 years in Edmonton, Alberta. 

Jared (Brook) is survived by: his loving parents, Allen and Laurette Scutt; brother and sister-in-law: Jade and Crystal Scutt; niece and nephew, Nya and Adam Scutt; grandmother, Louisa Bruneau; and numerous uncles, aunties, cousins, and close friends.  

Jared (Brook) was predeceased by; his grandparents, Norman and Ann Scutt; grandfather, Paul Bruneau; uncles: Arthur Larrivee and Norman Bruneau; auntie, Colleen Bruneau; and cousin, Lionel Larrivee.

Jared (Brook) loved to spend time with family, playing guitar, singing, and going for nature walks.  He/She was a kind-hearted individual and would go out of their way to help someone in need.  He/She brought joy through their wittiness and their over-the-top sense of humour on many occasions.

Jared was born on February 1, 1986 in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan.  After graduating in 2004 you could find Jared playing in his band, working in a restaurant, or running heavy equipment with his Dad.  Over the years in Lloydminster Jared began to battle addiction.  This led him on a journey that ended up in Edmonton by 2009.  He trusted what was in his heart and knew he was ready to embrace his true gender and be known as Brook. 

Brook sought support in different recovery homes where she found incredible strength to find herself and help many others through their journey as well.  She settled into her own apartment where she struggled with substance abuse and addiction. Even through her addictions, her love for her family and close friends was undeniable. 

Donations in memory of Brook may be made to Thorpe Recovery Centre in Blackfoot, Alberta.

The Memorial Service for Jared/Brook will be held at First Baptist Church in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 1:00pm. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
