BIOGRAPHY SKENE ~ Betty May Skene passed away peacefully at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre, Lloydminster, Alberta on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the age of 82 years. Betty May will be sadly missed by her husband John Skene of Lloydminster; daughter: Linda Ann and Bud Collins of Lloydminster; three sons: Michael Skene of Whitehorse, Gordon Skene of Lloydminster, Glenn Skene of Vancouver; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren as well as several other relatives. The celebration of life was conducted from the Grace United Church, Lloydminster, Alberta on Thursday, November 26, 2009 at 2:00 A.M. with Reverend Sue Hertell and Reverend Lyn Lamers officiating. The tribute was given by Glenn Skene. Leader of song was the Grace United Church Choir singing “Praise The Lord”, “In The Bulb There Is A Flower” and “I Was There To Hear Your Borning Cry” accompanied on the organ by Irene Knowlson. The soloist was Brooke Collins singing “Hallelujah”. The Grace United Church Choir sang “Be Still, My Soul”. The Celebration Ringers were in attendance playing “Joyful, Joyful”. The scripture readers were Marge Natress and Eddy Hayes. Inurnment took place in the Lloydminster City Cemetery. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. CARD OF THANKS A heartfelt thanks to all the care givers with the Home Care Program, the Lloydminster Hospital, The Neurosurgical Unit at the University Hospital and the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre for their compassion and expert care. We were grateful for the kind support of Reverend Sue and Reverend Lyn and the music of the organist Irene Knowlson, soloist Brooke Collins, the Bell Choir and the Grace United Church Choir. Glenn’s Tribute was very thoughtful and fittingly paid tribute to Betty May’s memory. We were almost overwhelmed by the cards, flowers and food that arrived at the house as well as the grand lunch provided by the church. Thanks to each of you for your prayers and thoughts and visits. It emphasized to us the many lives touched by Betty May. Donations may be made to the Dr. Cooke Patient Comfort Fund, Lloydminster Region Health Foundation or to the charity of the donors choice.
