Obituary of Peter Blanchette

Donald Peter Blanchette passed away with family by his side at Pine Island Lodge, Maidstone, Saskatchewan on August 31, 2023 at the age of 91 years.

Peter was born in Birling, SK on May 13, 1932. He grew up in Birling, Maidstone area. On May 14, 1953 Peter married Vivian Ardella Bamford.

Peter is survived by: his 6 children, Marie (Gerald Hartman) Maidstone, SK, Don Blanchette (Marilyn) of Streamstown, AB, Terry Blanchette (Tracey) of Lloydminster, AB, Colleen (Doug Young) of Paynton,SK, Fern (Wade) Younger of Lloydminster SK and Ardella (Duane Franks) of Lloydminster AB; grandchildren, Kurt (Gina) Hartman, Chris (Kim) Hartman, Jeff Collins, Jill (Mike) Vany, Melissa (Sheldon) Nasby, Jeff (Heidi) Blanchette, Sean (Lisa) Blanchette, Ryan (Lauren) Blanchette, Scott (Megan) Young, Devon (Pam) Walker, Warren (Christa) Walker, Mandy Walker, Chelsea (Kyle) Skoretz and Brett (April) Franks; and 30 great grandchildren;

Peter was predeceased by: his loving wife of 68 years, Vivian Blanchette; parents, Joseph Adelare “Edward” Blanchette, Rachel Lavinia McCulloch; parents-in-law, William and Julia Bamford; 2 granddaughters, Brandy Young and Nicole Collins; brothers, Victor, Charles, Robert, Harvey, Clarence and Eugene; and sisters, Blanche, and Jeannine.

A Celebration of Life will be held from Maidstone Legion Hall, Maidstone, SK on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM. If you are unable to attend in person, you may view the live streaming of the service under Peter's obituary.

Donations in memory of Peter may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Pine Island Lodge, Maidstone, SK.
