Florence Woods

Obituary of Florence Woods

Florence Olive Woods of Lone Rock, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully at Lloydminster Hospital on November 10th, 2023 at the age of 80 years old.

Florence is survived by: three daughters, Doreen (Glenn) McCaw, Donna Woods, and Dianne (Ray) Eyestone; one grandson, Nathan (Sarah) Woods; and two great-grandsons, Jaxson and Grayson.

Florence was born in St. Brieux, Saskatchewan on May 7th, 1943, to parents James and Lena Staub. She grew up in St. Brieux and had 7 siblings - brothers: Robert (Georgina) Piatt, Allan (Liola) Staub and Tony Staub; sisters: Rose (Scott) Cann, Alice (James) Anderson, Mary (Bert) Reves, and Emma Staub.  On October 6th, 1962, Florence married Harvey Woods and together they had 3 daughters: Doreen, Donna, and Dianne.

In her younger years Florence enjoyed planting a large garden and preserved countless jars of vegetables and fruit.  Of the many jars she produced her pickled beets were simply the best!  She also enjoyed picking berries and was happy to quietly sample as she picked.  During the summer months Florence enjoyed traveling to destinations in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia to visit family and friends. She was delighted to meet Helena and Edina Balogh from the Hungarian side of her family tree in the early 2000’s when they travelled from Budapest, Hungary to visit the family in Saskatchewan.  In every family there are favorites, and Florence had a very special place in her heart for her grandson Nathan and especially loved spending time with him and her two great-grandson’s Jaxson and Grayson.

Florence is predeceased by her husband, Harvey; parents, James and Lena Staub; her brothers, Robert Piatt and Allan Staub; and brother-in-law, Bert Reves.

On behalf of the Woods family, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have sent their condolences in person and by phone. Thank you to the doctors and nurses at Lloydminster Hospital and to McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., with special thanks to Glenn McCaw for his everlasting kindness and compassion at this difficult time.

At Florence’s request no funeral service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lloydminster Rescue Squad, The Olive Tree or Kinsmen TeleMiracle.
