Raymond Novak

Obituary of Raymond Novak

Raymond Albert Novak was born on October 13, 1944 to John and Bertha Novak in Loon Lake, SK. He passed away peacefully on November 19, 2023 at Red Deer Hospital.

Raymond is survived by: his son, Jim (Dianne) Novak; daughter, Kerry (Jim) Ference; brothers, Lenard (Charlotte) Novak and Rodney (Judy) Novak; sister, Dianne Novak; grandchildren, Brad (Beth) Novak and Kennedy Novak (Eryk Persaud); great grandchild, Logan Novak; numerous nieces, nephews and close friend, Marlene Neumann.

Raymond is predeceased by: his parents, John and Bertha Novak.

Raymond farmed with his dad in the Big Bush district until the early seventies. From there Raymond eventually settled his family in Lloydminster, AB working at the Stockyards. He then started working with McAllister Construction where he found his true calling as a Cat Skinner. With his perfectionism and attention to detail, a level could be used to confirm the dirt on the oilfield lease was even all around! After a long career there, Raymond went on to start his own trucking company, hauling water and oil in and around the Lloydminster area until he retired in 2005.

Raymond loved his trips to the museum to enjoy the old tractors and a couple of years ago he bought and restored a 1953 International Super W4 tractor. This was his pride and joy! Showing it around Islay and keeping it in pristine shape filled his days. Along with his tractor Raymond enjoyed listening to Shania Twain and Carlene Carter, looking forward to receiving his yearly calendars, and telling stories of his shenanigans in his youth. These usually involved dances in the Big Bush area, family boxing matches, bike races and sharing his giblet gravy!

Raymond will be remembered for his distinctive voice, lots of phone calls to his family and friends and his huge love for food! We all can attest to this as at many family gatherings he had his own platter which would be overflowing with his mom’s amazing food and finished off with all kinds of desserts!

The Celebration of Life for Raymond will be conducted from Loon Lake Legion, Loon Lake, SK on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
