Obituary of Betty Garner
Betty Garner passed away at Westview Health Center, Stony Plain, AB on November 17, 2023 at the age of 95 years.
Left to cherish her memory are; her children, Keith (Elaine) Garner, Donna (Wayne) Barker, Susan (Ken) Roberts, Wendy (Leonard Lofstrand) Garner; her daughter-in-law, Linda Garner; and her sister-in-law, Margaret McDonnell of Victoria, BC. She will also be deeply missed by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Betty was predeceased by; her husband, Gordon; her parents, John and Evelyn Stewart; brothers, William, Donald and Robert; sister, Clara; and children, Sharon, Terry and Lorne.
Betty was a nurse at Lloydminster Hospital for many years, retiring in 1990. This was a job she loved. Betty cherished her time spent with family at the cabin out at Sandy Beach and in later years she wintered in Yuma, Arizona with friends.
She was active for many years with the Nurses Chapter, Fish and Game, Quilts of Love program, Zebra Child and Youth Advocacy Centre, Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Royal Canadian Legion. In her late 80’s, she was on the Residents Committee at Hemstock Retirement Residence.
She enjoyed dancing, taking a long walk and had a passion for learning new things. Over the years she became proficient at crocheting, knitting, quilting, swimming, playing the organ, playing the guitar, learning how to use her computer and how to text on her IPad. Above all else, Betty possessed a great love of books and reading for her entire life. She continued most of these activities well into her 90’s when her failing eyesight slowed her down.
Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The Funeral Service will be held at McCaw Funeral Chapel, Lloydminster, AB on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 1:00 PM. If you are unable to attend in person, you may view the live streaming of the service posted on McCaw Funeral Service website under Betty's obituary at the time of service.
