Edith, Olive was looking through obituaries this evening as she often does and we were very shocked to read Don’s name. We are sending our heartfelt sympathies to you and your family. Our friendship dates back a long time. We had great times together. (I just remembered a picnic around a bonfire down by the river?) Don and I worked for almost 2 years together as railroad brakemen. We spent many long hours in the North Battleford bunkhouse (when we should have been sleeping) discussing all the worlds ills. I think we both felt our friendship made the sometimes difficult job a little easier. We were just nicely into our twenties! Tara was about to be born! Unfortunately we haven’t seen much of each other in all these long years except for a visit or two from you. I’m saddened this evening thinking of Don’s passing. He was my best friend. But Edith I’m gladdened by knowing the two of you raised a beautiful family. Don was a very special person and I’m so grateful he was a part of my life.
