Obituary of Robert Gilbert
Robert Bradley Gilbert, known as Robbie to his friends and family, passed away on February 9, 2024, in Calgary, Alberta.
Robbie is remembered and dearly loved by his Mother, Jennifer Gilbert, Grandmother Pat, Grandfather Brad, Auntie Shannon and Uncle John, extended family, and all who have been good friends to him during his life. He was loved.
Robbie was born on July 21, 1996, at Lloydminster Hospital. Not long after, it was found that he was born with a hole in his heart. As a tremendous credit to his pediatric doctors, surgeon and Stollery staff, Robbie grew to be a young man with a wonderful, kind and giant heart. Robbie gave people his all. He wore his giant heart on his sleeve and this, along with his irresistible energy, fantastic humor, sparkling blue eyes and a captivating smile brought him the love of many.
Family and dear friends fondly remember Robbie making people laugh and smile along with him. Children effortlessly adored his easy charm and animals of all types and sizes simply gravitated towards him, both would often end up eating out of his hands. Robbie truly loved to be with his people, he enjoyed spending time at the lake with family. Robbie went out of his way to acknowledge people he knew with a kind ‘Hello’. He was quick-witted and competitive, enjoyed all games and had great joy in celebrating anything or anyone, anytime. Robbie enjoyed sharing food, dressing up at all ages and costumes. Music and dancing at events would fill his youthful heart.
Always thoughtful and generous, he loved to give small gifts. He treasured the simple things in life like stones, crystals, shells, sticks, leaves, acorns, flowers, and all things shiny. Robbie defaulted to sharing with others even if he had little for himself. With a zest for adventure, travel, freedom, and a bright childhood curiosity Robbie never hesitated to walk his own path.
Robert Bradley Gilbert will be remembered in a private celebration of life on his birthday, and forever forward. In his remembrance, the family requests that you consider supporting the Stollery Children’s Hospital.
