Dear McCaw Family, Last weekend I first heard of your tragic loss. I knew Dale through his beautiful daughter, Cara. As her teacher, I could see the strong values that Dale and Dana instilled into Cara. They both displayed unwavering and unconditional care and affection for their daughter. Cara...each time I saw you and your dad together, I could see the love in his eyes for you. He was so proud of you. My heart goes out to you, sweetheart. My thoughts and prayers will continue to be with you always. May you find some comfort in your faith. With my deepest sympathy, Karen (Miss Macdonald)

Dear Dana and family, There has not been a day that goes by without thinking of you all. Please know you are in our thoughts, our hearts and in our prayers as you begin this life without your beloved Dale by your side. I taken some time to sort through the many photos of the Group '8' and '6' gatherings we have shared and we are so blessed to have enjoyed those times with you. Dale's quiet confidence and professional integrity and commitment will truly be missed as a leader in those circles. Please accept our sincerest sympathy and know our friendship is only a phone call away if there is anything you ever need. Kerry and Todd

We were very saddened to hear of Dale's passing. He, Glenn, and Dave have been an incredible support to our families over the years. I was fortunate to have a really good chat with him the week prior, comparing notes on a wide range of topics. It seemed appropriate that I was there with him to initiate arrangements for my father's service. Dad and Dale had a running joke that spanned a half dozen years: Dad unfortunately had to attend a lot of funerals in our home town as he had outlived a number of his friends. One day he commented about this to Dale during the tea following to which Dale responded that each time Dad came to a service in Maidstone from that point forward Dale would seat him one row closer to the front! This was a source of great amusement to my father, and he delighted telling that story many times at doffee row. Eventually though, the burden of losing too many lifelong friends and neighbours caught up to Dad, and he told me that he would fool Dale - he just wouldn't attend any more funerals until it was time for his own, then Dale could put him right up front if that pleased him. Dale and I shared a good laugh over that, and it made things better from that day forward. I wish I could say something to somehow ease the pain that members of the McCaw family must now be feeling. Just know that Dale's wit and integrity was greatly appreciated by many; it transcended his work, and made these times of passage so much easier to bear. I am certain his reward will be in Heaven.

We tried to go today, but mom and dad (Lorna and Winston Chappell) couldn't stand in the long line of people who came to love on you guys! So we went to Tim Hortons and had our own little memorial of what Dale had meant in our lives. We remembered the many times he and your family have been there for us in our difficult times. Know today that you are so very loved. Hearts are broken all over this town for you and your loss. Thank God that we know this isn't the end.....it makes it a little more bearable. Love and hugs from the Frank and Chappell families.

Dear McCaw Family, I would like to extend my deepest sympathy's to all of you in this time of sadness. I only had the privilege of meeting Dale a couple of times, but it was obvious to me that he was a wonderful person full of love and compassion. Please know that God put your beautiful family on this earth as a blessing to all of us. Dale sits in Heaven as an angel of grace just as he did when he was here on earth. Psalm 27:4-5 One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.

We are so grateful and consider it such a privilege that we had the chance to know Dale since a young age when Neal first started working at your funeral home. We treasure all of those memories, albeit some 35 years ago, of the wonderful family suppers and events Agnes and Dave planned. We were always included, and your family welcomed us as if we were family too. We are so very thankful for those great times. Dale was like the "little brother" that neither of us had and, even from an early age, behind that shy adorable smile it was clear that he was very patient, compassionate and genuinely sincere. Those wonderful qualities have only grown stronger as he had become devoted husband, father, businessman, and pillar of both the community and his church. Dale and your family have always been there to provide strength and comfort during our times of personal loss. The old cliche that words cannot adequately express feelings could not apply more today, as it is very hard to find the right words to express our sadness at such a tragic loss. To the entire McCaw Family, as well as the funeral home staff, our prayers and thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Please know that, just as you have been there for us, we are here for you now. If there is anything we can do, you need only ask. All our Love.

To Dale's family, Good people are hard to find and impossible to forget. Dale was one of those fine men. Dale was a student in my grade four class at Barr Colony School thirty four years ago! I clearly recall his beaming face with sparkling eyes, a ready smile and cute dimples. During Dale's years in the funeral profession I was always so touched by the kindness and warmth that Dale greeted me with. He was very compassionate and respectful. His sense of humour and laughter kept people at ease. What struck me most was the gentleness, patience and understanding he had for children. I can only imagine what a wonderful husband and father Dale was! His virtues and strength of character were solid. As a teacher it's not what I taught but what I learned from those I taught that counts. I learned much from Dale. I am so privileged to have had Dale touch my life. I will hold a special place in my heart for him. With deepest sympathy and kind regards to you all, Kay Tarleton

I am so sorry to hear this tragic news about Dale. My siblings and I grew up next door to the McCaw family, and Dale was always cheerful and fun to be around. Not only would he patiently watch while we jumped on their trampoline, but he'd also push us in their swing and let us eat crabapples off their trees. Even back then it was obvious that he was an exceptional person (and the consummate professional), not only putting up with a bunch of noisy neighbour kids, but welcoming us with open arms. I offer my deepest sympathy to the McCaw family, and my thanks for all Dale and the rest of you have done for us over the years.

To the McCaw family, I am so so saddened to hear the tragic news about Dale. We grew up in the house next to the McCaw home in Lloydminster, and I & my two brothers regarded Dale as a "big brother". We spent many summer hours over at the McCaw house jumping on the old green trampoline, and Dale very often came out to play with us, bring out a plate of cookies, and referee all the community kids that congregated. I recall him being an exceptionally kind and genuine soul, even as a teenager. He has been there for my family on the losses of both my grandmothers, and words cannot express our respect and appreciation for the genuine sincerity with which Dale, and the McCaw family, have provided to us in trying times. Dale was a true gentleman, and his gentle spirit has touched countless lives. My deepest sympathies to you all. Respectfully, Dayna Leighton-Lane

We pray that "HE" will wipe away every tear and heal the broken hearts as He did through Dale: the love, the compassion, the healing, one experienced in Dale's presence. Dale will be greatly missed and always remembered. God grant him eternal rest. Our Sincerest Sympathy Lil Hamernyk & Family

Even through our school years Dale was already touching lives through his humor, friendship and genuine care for others. Our grad class of '84 is truly privileged to have called him a classmate and friend. It comes as no surprise then to see the positive impact he has had on so many lives and in so many ways. Dale has shown us the type of person we want to be by being that person himself. To Dana and the entire McCaw family, how we wish we could find the words that could bring peace and comfort, but we know mere words will not. In God's own good time, we pray His grace will be sufficient to sustain you through this truly difficult time. Dear McCaw Family, It was with deep grief and sadness that we heard of Dale's tragic passing. We have known of your family since my sister Nola and Doug lived next door to you in Lloyd, and also when I worked in the Lloyd hospital in 1968 and Dave would come to do what the McCaw's have always done with such professionalism and compassion for those who have lost a loved one. Then in more recent years, when our families were on the receiving end of your tender mercies and gracious help when our parents died, you couldn't have made us feel any more cared for. Dale was there with his wonderful, gentle ways to assist us in every way and help ease us through the hard times of saying good-bye to our Moms and Dads. There are no earthly words that can even touch your sorrow, but we send our prayers that the words of our Lord Jesus will bring you the comfort that He promises when He says that He will be close to the brokenhearted, and that He will never leave you nor forsake you. With prayers, Garry and Shelly Benoit

Dana and family, What a terrible shock it was to receive the news of Dale's death. We remember very fondly the times we spent with your family at the SFSA conventions. You were such a kind couple, so easy to visit with and so welcoming. I especially remember the white water rafting trip at the convention in Meadow Lake. Because Mark had signed up to go golfing, I didn't feel confident in coming alone with three kids but Dale assured me you guys would help and it would be fine. True to his word, Dale took the boys with him on his raft so I could focus on Becca, who was only two years old. What a very special couple you were. We are thinking of you and your family and the difficult time you are going through and pray that you will find strength to meet the days ahead.

Dear McCaw Family, My deepest sympathies on the passing of Dale. Although my contact with him was limited over the years, I found him to be a man of deep conviction and love who possessed a special gift for bringing comfort to those who were hurting. My mother referred to him with great affection over the years and, on many occasions, noted the genuine love and unwavering support he freely offered to others in their times of need. When Mom passed I was able to experience his attentive nature first hand and was then reminded of my Mothers unparalleled respect for, and admiration of, him. He helped our family greatly. His memory is sweet. He was an amazing man. God Bless you all in this time of sorrow. Respectfully, Daniel Kilback

The McCaw Family, We are shocked and saddened by the tragic loss of Dale. At times like this, we are frustrated by our inability to see things from the Lord's perspective. We turn to the loving arms of our family and friends as we ponder and reflect on the necessity of a mortal death to open the gates to everlasting life. We pray you will have the faith from within, and the love and support from without to endure the many challenges Dale's passing will present. We also pray you may soon regain confidence that our Saviour is at the helm, and continues to pilot our lives even when we feel the winds are blowing us randomly over turbulent seas. We treasure the many 'golden' moments we shared with Dale and the McCaw family. May God bless you all through the days and weeks ahead, and may you find peace in His eternal plan. Dear Dana,Dave, Reg,Mark.Kirk,Glen I really don't know what to say when a loss like this happens. The saying Life is Fragile, handle with prayer is so true. Dale went to school with my Gordon so I sort of knew him and Glenn a little better. Ian is trying to get hold of you Glenn, I hope he e-mailed you. Reg is the only McCaw I don't have a kid the same age, so your dear Mom said she would share him with me so he is extra special to me. My husband gets seizures so I can't come to the funeral but my prayers will be with you all and your families through this hard time. God Bless you all especially Dales children. Your whole family has always been very special to me. Blessings, Joyce

To the McCaw Family, Sincere sympathy to you all on the loss of your husband, father, son and brother, Dale. He was so compassionate and kind whenever I would see him at a funeral. I am sure it was difficult for him to see people at one of the worst times in their lives, but he was a 'rock' to us all. I know that you are so very, very proud of him as he consoled and comforted so many families in the area. The McCaw name is near legendary in the Lloyd district and has always been held in the highest regard in my parents home.
