I have many fond memories of growing up down the street from the Thornton family on 45th street. For many years she was Mrs. Thornton to me. When I was old enough to call her Gwen, it sounded wrong. I spent weekends at Peck Lake with them in the bus, and many many hours at the pool hall with Tracy when Mrs. Thornton was working. I visited with her about 2 weeks ago, she still had her wittiness and had just finished painting her finger nails. Rest in Peace Gwen, you earned it!
