Gerard McKevitt

Obituary of Gerard McKevitt

Gerald Gerard McKevitt passed away at Lloydminster Hospital, Lloydminster, SK on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the age of 77 years.

Gerard was born in Lloydminster, SK on July 23, 1947 and married his soulmate, Barbara North on June 29, 1968 – and this is where his legacy begins. Gerard was a world traveler, honorary Mexican, fixer of all things, professional campfire coach, expert fishing supervisor, french-fry connoisseur, master storyteller, the life of every party and lit up every room he walked into. He was a loving husband, an amazing dad, the most fun grandpa and great-grandpa and a best friend to many. He taught us that family is the most precious thing; to always remember to stop and enjoy the view and that laughter can heal just about anything (especially the laughter of a child).

Gerard will be forever cherished by his devoted wife, Barb McKevitt; children, Tami Smith (Carl), Dean McKevitt (Donna) and Jason McKevitt; grandchildren, Teague Smith (Jill), Harlow and Monaco, Hannah Bartsch (Corey) and Leo, Dayley Crone (Bayley), Oaklynn, Nixon and Lincoln, Logan Smith (Calina), Connor Smith (Sarah), Damara McKevitt (Jon), Izzie and Bridgette; sister, Maureen McKay; sisters-in-law, Deb McKevitt, Doreen Tarasiuk (Don), Carol Fisher (Ron), Shirley Der (Herb); “second” daughter, Deb Minish; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and all who knew him.

Gerard is now with his parents, Patrick and Leona McKevitt; sister, Patsy Edgar; brother, Tom McKevitt; best friend, Edwin McKevitt; and brothers-in-law, Roger Edgar and Ken McKay.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Lashburn Community Hall at 2:00 PM.

Donations in memory of Gerard may be made to Canadian Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or Lloydminster Regional Health Foundation - Palliative Care.
