Dear Grandpa, It was a really beautiful ceremony today, celebrating you and your life. It's ironic that it was a perfect fall day, harvest time actually, so fitting for you! I still can't believe that you are gone. As I listened to stories about you today, I realized many traits in you, are in my children. The "Geall Time" definitely applies to my son, and your love of animals to my girls. I wish they had gotten to know you, the way I did as a child, and an adult. I have so many memories of you as a child. I remember when my family and me would come visit for the weekend, and you would slip my dad some money to buy lunch on the way home, and give each of us girls a quarter, to buy ourselves a treat! And we never left without a chocolate bar from Grandpas freezer! I remember waking up Christmas mornings at the farm, and there would be one of your wool socks for each of us girls, filled with candies. I remember riding in the back of the grain truck, going to check the wells, feeding the cows and pigs, you taking us to the barn to get milk from the cows, and how you'd laugh at my sisters and me when we would freak out about the garner snakes in the grass! I remember your little "jig"…and your infectious laugh! Your love of the Toronto Blue Jays, but mostly, your kind and gentle heart! Only two days after you passed away, I became a Grandma to an adorable little boy! I can't wait to share stories of you and Grandma with him. I hope that one day I will be a hero to my grandchildren, as you and Grandma are to me! You truly were an amazing man Grandpa! You will be missed by us all!
