Jesse Leigh Heathen was born April 22, 1987 at the old Lloydminster Hospital. His parents, Ronnie and Barbara Heathen had moved there to be close to his brother who was in the hospital at that time. He was their third child. Jesse came into the world as a big, big boy, sweet, gentle and kind. He rarely ever got at anything or anyone.
Man, could that kid eat. Everything and anything especially ketchup. The family moved back to Onion Lake when he was a few months old. Jessie grew up wild. Not bad, just country kid wild. Riding horses, bikes, and building tree forts with his cousins and siblings. He loved horses, dogs, and little kids, even when he was little. His friends and relatives probably have some great stories of him growing up. He absolutely loved being a big brother to Martin, Catlyn, and Mariah. He also loved and looked up to his big brother, Ronald and big sis Rhonda too. He was a good student, very smart. An amazing athlete as well. Some of his track records still hold today.
Despite all of the hardships in his life, he stayed the same. Kind, loving and loyal. The truest, dearest soul anyone could want as a son, brother, father, life partner, and friend.
His biggest regret was not being there for his kids and missing out on so much of their lives. Jessie’s life was cut short before he could reconnect and make his amends. But we can all take comfort in the fact that in the last few months, he had found his peace. He found the love he always wanted and deserved. The future he wanted and worked so hard for.
Jesse, “Juicy” you made such an impact on all of us with your big loving heart and forgiving nature. So many are going to miss your smile, your laugh, and your amazing hugs. I can just hear you say “Come on now. Do me a solid. Don’t cry for me. I’m finally truly free.”
Fly high now, ride the wild horses and burn bright with your wild spark. You turned your life around at the end. Your soul is light and pure, wiped clean. We will always love you, Jesse Leigh.
