Della Eileen Babey of Lloydminster passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2009. Della was born on January 21, 1914 to Delbert and Ida Cheley on their farm near Carnduff, Saskatchewan. In the fall of 1918, the family moved to the Lloydminster area. In 1935, Della married Norman Babey and they farmed in the Blackrock district, north-east of Sandy Beach. Della is survived by two daughters Arlene (Art) Frolick of Regina and Sharon Newton of Dudleyville, Arizona; daughter-in-law Sylvia Babey of Lloydminster; two sisters-in-law, Elsie Cheley of Lloydminster and Kathleen Johnson of Thunder Bay, ON; grandchildren: Evan (Patty) Onderko, Bryan (Donna) Babey; Gregg (Yvonne) Babey all of Lloydminster; Lane Plewniak, Casa Grande, AZ; Tyler (Amy) Plewniak, Germany; Rosanne (Lewis) Robin, Nipawin, SK; Carol (Grant) Marit, Assiniboia, SK; Myrna (Dean) VanGenderen, Marwayne, AB; Wylda (Doug) Grinde, Edmonton, AB and Denise Little, Prince George BC; 20 great grandchildren, two nieces, two nephews and their families. Della and Norman loved traveling, taking trips to the Caribbean, Mexico, Australia, Asia, Europe, India, and Costa Rica. They were "snowbirds", spending 30 winter-years in Arizona. Della spent many years making beautiful jewelry from the rocks and gems she collected. She also knit dozens of sweaters, baby blankets and Afghans on her computerized knitting machines. She loved to take her grandchildren on short trips, packing picnic lunches, with her baking being the highlight! She was a loving mother/grandmother/great grandmother, a hard-working farm wife, a happy and caring person. She will be missed by all of those who knew her.
