I had the good fortune to work with Wayne in the field. Wayne was steady, reliable, efficient and supremely competent. He had a phenomenal memory and almost encyclopedic knowledge of any and all evidence he had tied and the leases and pipelines he had surveyed. Wayne loved working outdoors and told me that he could not imagine working all day inside an office. Over a quick lunch in the field he would invariably offer his assistant a cookie that Raylene had packed in his lunch. He would confide how happy he was that she took care of him. It was clear that he enjoyed life -- especially time at the cabin and on vacation -- and loved his family very much. May you take comfort in memories of a life well lived. With our loss, heaven is made richer by one good party chief.
