OBITUARY BENOIT ~ Norah Evelyn Benoit passed away at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre, Lloydminster, Alberta on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the age of 88 years. Norah will be sadly missed by her seventeen children: Joan Job (Ozzie-deceased) and family of Calgary, Ray (Barb) Benoit and family of Lloydminster, Rex (Pam) Benoit and family of Cold Lake, Garry (Shelly) Benoit and family of Edmonton, Karen (Nick) Sibbeston and family of Fort Simpson, N.W.T. & Ottawa, Theresa (Jim) Brown and family of Lloydminster, Joe Benoit (Linda-deceased) and family of Red Deer, Leon (Linda) Benoit and family of Vermilion, Ed (Wendy) Benoit and family of West Kelowna, B.C., Nancy (Steve) MacIntyre and family of High Level, Chris (Brenda Lee) Benoit and family of Lloydminster, Sally Benoit (Martin Couture) and family of Durham Sud, QC., Rita Nickorick and family of Coaldale, Grant (Cheryl) Benoit and family of Cold Lake, David Benoit (Sylvie Bertrand) and family, Lloydminster, Linda (Doug) Dykes and family of Saskatoon, Maria Benoit of Lethbridge; sixty grandchildren; forty two great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Sr. Marie Benoit; as well as nieces and nephew. Norah was predeceased by her husband Arthur Benoit, one sister Avice Jensen and her husband Nels, brother Cliff Brew and his wife Bess, and nephew Allan Brew. The prayer service was conducted from St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Lloydminster on Monday, May 18, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. with Deacon Lynn Pion officiating. The eulogy was read by Shelly Benoit. The mass of Christian burial was conducted from the St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Lloydminster on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Jan Sobkowicz officiating. Leader of song was Marlene Risling accompanied by Theresa and Colleen Brown, Danielle Weiler, and Carmelita Swan; Donna Weston on the organ and Mel Risling on trumpet. C.W.L. Honor Guard and Forester's Honor Guard were in attendance. The honorary pallbearers were her daughters: Joan, Karen, Theresa, Nancy, Sally, Rita, Linda and Maria. The active pallbearers were her sons: Ray, Rex, Garry, Joe, Leon, Ed, Chris, Grant and David. Interment took place in the Lloydminster City Cemetery. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. CARD OF THANKS The family of Norah Benoit would like to thank the staff at Lloydminster Home Care, Dr. Hemstock Residence, Lloydminster Hospital Transition Unit, and Dr. Cooke Extended Care Facility for their loving care for Norah Benoit. Our thanks to Deacon Lynn Pion for conducting the Prayer Service, to Father Jan Sobkowicz for conducting the Funeral Mass, and to those who read Scripture and Intercessory Prayers. Thank you to Marlene Risling, Theresa and Colleen Brown, Danielle Weiler and Carmelita Swan for their ministry of music, to Donna Weston, organist, and Mel Risling for playing the trumpet. Thank you to Patrick Benoit for violin solos at the church and the luncheon. Thank you to grandchildren Joseph, Catherine, Patrick, Andrew and Amelia Benoit for altar serving. Thank you to the CWL and the Foresters who formed the Honour Guard at the Funeral Mass. We would like to thank those at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church who donated food, set up and served the luncheon after the Prayer Service. Thank you to Pastor Lyle Berg for offering space at Lloydminster Gospel Fellowship for the luncheon after the Funeral Mass, and to those who set up and served. Thank you to everyone who visited, made phone calls, sent flowers, food or cards, and for those who made charitable donations in Norah's memory. Thank you to those who travelled distances to share this time, and especially to Sr. Marie Benoit, Norah's sister-in-law from Peterborough, Ont. We would like to thank the McCaw Family for their special guidance and comfort at this tender time. All this and much more has been so appreciated by the family. Donations in memory of Norah may be made to the Le Centre Berthe-Rousseau or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
