Obituary of Anna Darby

Anna May Darby (nee Wescott) passed away March 22, 2012 at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre in Lloydminster, Alberta. Anna was born February 2, 1929 in Cardston, Alberta, and grew up on a farm near Woolford. After graduating from high school in Cardston, she married and raised three children, before moving to Lethbridge, then Calgary, to obtain her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education. She taught elementary school in Calgary and smaller centres across Alberta, and retired in Kitscoty, Alberta. She was an avid swimmer who also enjoyed choral singing. Anna was predeceased by her parents, Grace and Hugh Wescott, and siblings Bob, Max and Judy Wescott, and Cherrie Knoblick. She is survived by her sisters, Myrtle Kennard and Betty Hansen, and her children, Sheila (Karel), Jim (Betsy) and Arthur (Frankie), five grandchildren including David and Stephen, and great-grandchildren Kaylene, Bradley and Shelby. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. at McCaw Funeral Chapel, 5101 - 50 Street, Lloydminster, AB. Donations in memory of Anna may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
