MALANCHUK, Olive Marguerite "Margie" March 23, 1925 to December 25, 2008 Margie was born in Prince Albert and grew up on a farm near MacDowall. After attending Normal School she taught near Saskatoon. She married John Ernest "Bob" Malanchuk on July 5, 1947. They farmed near Clark's Crossing, then moved into Saskatoon. Daughter Donna was born in 1949 and son Verne in 1951. In 1959 the family moved to Lloydminster and soon after opened Floor-On Ltd. In 1961 son Barry was born, followed by daughter Judy in 1962. Margie worked as a seamstress in the drapery department of the family business, then later as a clerk at Canadian Tire. Bob and Margie built a cabin at Loon Lake where they both enjoyed fishing and visiting with friends. After Margie retired the cabin became her summer home. "Mullens", as she was affectionately nicknamed, always had time for family and friends, and the cabin was the best place to share good company, great meals, and homemade Saskatoon berry pies and pancakes. Margie's other interests included bowling, dancing, Minus One gatherings and Royal Purple Activities. Margie's long slow dance with Alzheimer Disease kidnapped her from us about eight years ago. She is now freed from its restraints, and we are able to say good-bye. Margie was predeceased by her husband Bob in 1984, son Barry in 2006, and grandson Jesse King in 2007. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Donna (& Don) Byrt, Verne (& Mavis) Malanchuk, Judy King (& Marc Lariviere); grandchildren Kari, Heidi, Sandi, Andy, Desiree, Laura, Chelsey, Alanna, Ryley, Evan and Taylor; her twelve great-grandchidren; and her brothers/sister/in-laws Ernie (& Ev) Dowling, Ruth (& Ches) Anear, Bill (& Margaret) Dowling, and Erv & Betty Malanchuk. A memorial service was held at McCaw Funeral Chapel on Monday, January 5, 2009. Donations to The Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan will be greaty appreciated. Donations in memory of Olive may be made to the Alzheimers Association of Saskatchewan - 301, 2550 - 12th Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan S4P 3X1.
