McPherson Obituary Evelyn Marie (Clark) McPherson was born October 18, 1918, on the family farm near Delisle and passed away November 13, 2008 in Maidstone. Evelyn spent her childhood years at Delisle and moved with her family to Lashburn in 1934, where she completed high school. She attended Normal School and U. of S., following which she taught at various country schools, including Lone Rock, Gully School, Phippen, Adanac, and Forest Bank. In 1947, Evelyn married Bob McPherson. For over 57 years they shared a happy life together on their family farm near Waseca. Evelyn had a busy life as a homemaker and mother. She and Bob spent many happy evenings square dancing with friends, and Sundays at Turtle Lake with family. Her interests included a large flower garden; the birds that came to her feeder; following world events and politics; and especially time spent with her extended family and beloved grandchildren. Recently Evelyn celebrated her 90th birthday at Pine Island Lodge Maidstone, where she has lived the past few years. Evelyn is affectionately remembered by her family for her irreverent wit, humour, poetry recitations, delicious baking, and warm hospitality. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Bob; her daughter Frances Metherell; her infant sister Elvera; her brother Don Clark and his wife Athene; her sister Margaret Dodge and her husband Lloyd; her sister-in-law Olive Clark; and her brother-in-law Raymond Brown. She is survived by her son Ted (Barbara) and his children David (Carey), Laura (Joe), and Allan; son-in-law Jim Metherell; daughter Jean McPherson (Jim Maxwell) and their children Rob, Lynn, and Julie; her brother Harold; her sister Frances (Irvin) Richards; sister-in-law Ann Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews. A family graveside service was held in Evelyn's honour at Waseca Cemetery on November 18, 2008. Evelyn's family would like to thank all the staff of Pine Island Lodge and Maidstone Health Complex for their excellent and compassionate care. Thank you to the many residents of the Lodge for the friendship shown to our family. Thank you to Glenn McCaw and McCaw Funeral Service for their kind and professional assistance with funeral arrangements. Donations may be made to the Pine Island Lodge or to the Maidstone Communities in Bloom.
