BIOGRAPHY
DAY ~ George Frederick Day passed away peacefully in the Lloydminster Hospital, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the age of 90 years.
George will be sadly missed by his wife Annie; son Bob and Cheryl Day; two grandchildren: John Day and Rachel Fraser, Elizabeth Day; brother-in-law Ernie Davies; sisters-in-law: Jean and Bill Bruchkowsky, Harold and Vera Martin, Shirley and Bill Luchynski, Dolorese Younger, Beverly Kuziak, Eva Smith and Betty and Art Tomlinson as well as numerous other relatives.
George was predeceased by his parents: Frederick and Alice Day; three sisters: Gladys Day, Phyllis (Bentley), Mary (Davies); brothers-in-law: Harold Smith, John Younger, Walter Kuziak, Creighton Bentley, John Rekrutiak; sister-in-law: Wendy Kettlewell.
The funeral service was conducted from the St. John's Anglican Church, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on Friday, November 25, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Canon Michael Stonhouse officiating.
The eulogy was read by Bob Day.
The hymns sung were "Morning Has Broken" "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace" accompanied on the organ by Pat Skinner.
The honorary pallbearers were The Barr Colony Heritage Society.
The active pallbearers were Dave Bentley, Allan Davies, Daryl Luchynski, Wade Younger, Brad Younger, Mike Smith, Phil Kuziak and John Day.
The interment was held in the Lloydminster City Cemetery.
McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements.
CARD OF THANKS
On behalf of my mother and our family, we sincerely thank the third floor staff at the Lloydminster Hospital for your professional experience, guidance, caring, and kindness through a very difficult situation we had not experienced before.
We especially thank Shirley, Diana, Yvonne, and Brenda. You are very special people doing a difficult job very well. Our hospital and community are very lucky to have you.
Doctor Govender we sincerely thank you for the care you have provided my dad for these past few years and especially the kindness you showed my mom during these past few weeks. My dad didn't talk a lot but he thought of you as a special person and liked you very much.
To McCaw's, Dave, Joel and staff, thank you for your professional guidance and help. Our community is blessed to have had you here all these many years.
Thank you to Reverend Canon Stonhouse for the service and Pat Skinner for being our organist.
Also we thank our caterer volunteers, ladies of Royal Purple, St. John's Women's Auxiliary, and the Barry Pridham unit of UCW for providing and serving the lunch.
To all who sent cards, flowers, made charitable donations, telephoned or stopped in to visit we thank you for your support it is truly appreciated.
