Obituary of Douglas Stieb

Douglas James Stieb passed away, with is family by his side, on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at the age of 77 years.
Doug was born in Leask, Saskatchewan on April 26, 1930. He was the eleventh of fourteen children to Emmanuel & Katherine Stieb. The family moved to BC when he was an infant. He lived in many areas of the province as well as Alberta until moving back to Lloydminster in 1975. He worked as a dry waller/taper and remained very active until shortly before his death.
The memorial service for Doug was held on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Knox Presbyterian Church at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Allan Young officiating. The musical selections "Come To The Water," "I Will Remember You," and "Be Not Afraid," were sung by Linda Stieb, Sarah Maier and Julie Berg, accompanied by Erika Maier. A eulogy was delivered by Doug's children. The honorary pallbearers were Doug's grandchildren and great-grandson. Doug's request was to be cremated with his ashes interred in BC at a later date.
Doug is survived by his wife Shirley, and his three children; son Gord (Marlene) Stieb and their children Morgan and Lee of Rivercourse, son Greg (Linda) Stieb and their children Andrea, Travis, Sarah, Rachel and Rebecca of Lloydminster, daughter Sheila Robb (fiancé Kelly Stovra) and her children Brennen and Amanda of Lloydminster; great grandson Mason Starko.
He is also survived by four sisters: Lillian of Rohnert Park, California; Ellie of Enderby, BC; Phyllis of Vernon, BC; Shirley of Princeton, BC; and one brother, Henry of Burnaby, BC. Doug had numerous other relatives.

Special thanks to McCaw Funeral Service for their compassion, care and guidance, Reverend Allan Young for visiting Doug and officiating at the memorial service, Linda Stieb, Julie Berg, Sarah Maier and Erika Maier for their lovely music; the Goodwill Group of Knox Church for providing and serving a delicious lunch and to everyone who phoned, sent cards, flowers, donations and food as well as those who visited our homes and attended the memorial service. We thank you all.
