BROWN: Gladys Reeta Brown passed away in the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre, Lloydminster, Alberta on Monday, February 4, 2008 at the age of 86 years. Reeta was born at the family home on July 11, 1921. She took her 12 years of schooling in Senlac. In 1942 she travelled to Ottawa to work in the Civil service. One year later, on December 4, she married John Brown. They farmed until their retirement in 1974 after which they traveled extensively. Reeta was very active in the community. She was involved in the Homemakers, Legion, Calorie Counters, Arena Committee, ACW, Homecoming Committee and Senlac Centennial Committee. John and Reeta enjoyed square dancing and old time dancing. They travelled many miles and made many friends. Reeta was very crafty. She quilted, painted, crocheted, knit, as well as numerous other crafts. John and Reeta moved to Lloydminster in 2001, first to the Dr. Hemstock Building and then to Hallsholme Apartments. Failing health forced her to move to the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre in 2007, where she resided until her passing. Reeta is survived by her loving children, grandchildren and great grandchildren: Malcolm (Donna) - Michelle (Curtis) Easton, Devyn & Avyne; Greg (Carla), Caleb, Jax and Teige; Cam (Sara) Kendra & Camara; Gloria (Frank) - Merrian (Craig); Wade; Vernon; Gordon - Curtis (Ami), Gage, Garrett & Griffin; Danae; Ian (Heather); Sister Eva Mills as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Reeta was predeceased by: her husband John Brown, parents Reginald and Violet Trodd, Great granddaughter Aubri Brown, Sister Stella and Stanley Vogan, Sister-in-law Agnes and Allan Birtle, Brother-in-law Matt and Agnes Brown, Brother-in-law Lloyd Mills. The funeral service for Reeta was conducted from the Senlac Community Hall, Senlac, Saskatchewan on Friday, February 8, 2008 at 2:30 P.M. CST with Pastor Doug Middleton. A eulogy was given by Michelle Brown-McLean and Danae Brown. The hymn sung was "In The Garden," accompanied on the piano by Bobbi-Jean May. Guestbook attendants were Joan Forbes and Cathy Hoge. Ushers were Blake Holden and Clark Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Reed, Tom Nuttall, Grant Manchester, Garry Bradshaw, Ken Brownlee, Neil Forbes, Ken Mawbey, Evelyn Mawbey, Gertie Holden, Margaret Jones, Edith Bounting, Anna Garrison, Jackie Bloos as well as all those who shared in Reeta's life. Active pallbearers were Grandchildren: Merrian Marginet, Wade Laverty, Vernon Laverty, Curtis Brown, Danae Brown, Greg Brown, Cameron Brown and Michelle Brown-McLean. Interment was held in the Senlac Cemetery before the service. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster administered the funeral arrangements. Card of Thanks The family of Reeta Brown would like to thank Dr. Chapelski and Dr. Kerlis for all their care. We would also like to thank the staff at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre for their kindness and all they did to make Mom feel at home while in residence there. A special thank you to Jackie for all her kindness. Thank you to Doug and Becky Middleton for their comforting words and for performing the service, Bobbi Jean May for the lovely music, the guest book attendants Joan Forbes and Cathy Hoge, the honorary pallbearers, the ladies for the lovely lunch, and Ken Murrell for looking after the cemetery arrangements. Thank you to the grandchildren for taking Grandma to her final resting place. Michelle and Danae you gave a wonderful eulogy. Thank you to McCaw's Funeral Home. Dale your kindness and helpfulness was much appreciated. Thank you to all our family and friends for your support, phone calls, food, flowers and visits at this sad time. We cannot express how much this meant to us. Donations in memory of our mom can be made to the Senlac Arena or Dr. Cooke Resident Comfort Fund.
