McGladdery Families: I would like to convey my condolences on the passing of your wonderful mother. The last time I was in Lloydminster; I enjoyed the visit with your mother, Lorraine and Donna. Many childhood memeories of growing up in the Lone Rock area were centered in the community that your mother was so involved with. Her beauty was within her as well as on the outside. My thoughts and prayers at with you at this time. Eileen Kelly

Ken & I enjoyed Edith's friendship over the years at church and community functions at Lone Rock and Lashburn. She accompanied us to Saskatoon once to visit Dick Glasgow who was in hospital at the time and on other occasions would sometimes stay with us overnight when attending Lodge and Eastern Star evenings at Lashburn. My sincere sympathy to her family at this time.

We are thinking of you at your time of loss. I (Brad) remember all the nice times at your home in Lone Rock when we were young. She was a wonderful friend to our mom, Jo. She was a solid member of our community and will be remembered by many.

There are many special memories I will always cherish about my Grandmother. Visiting her in Lone Rock was always such a treat for my brother Sean and I. Our very favorites were putting pennies on the train tracks, getting her mail, and always getting to bake something yummy. She was such a kind, patience and giving person, I would be happy to be even one half of the women she was!

When I was a kid,"Auntie DeDee" taught me about begonias, how to make donuts, how to multitask. She had camel bells and a tiny vase from Greece and other things from far away places that were mysterious and exotic and the subjects of many stories I made up to try to understand them in the context of her life. I knew she had been "away" to "The East". I didn't know it was eastern Canada they meant. I thought she brought those camel bells from "the east". She was my childhood exotic heroine. I was always trying to guess what secrets she kept. I would watch the way she did things, like neatly rolling up items of clothing to get them evenly damp before ironing. I thought she had learned that from the camel people. Later, much later, when I would phone and ask her what she was doing, she would say she was playing cards with Viola. I didn't know until just now that Viola was her middle name. Really, do any of us know when we, by living our lives, inspire others? Edith Viola McGladdery, you were an inspiration! (and I can hear you saying "You don't say!" with a twinkle of the eye and a mischievous grin, and still leaving me wondering....)
