Obituary
Skinner: Jean Olive Skinner passed away on December 7, 2007 at the age of 87. She passed away peacefully at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Center in Lloydminster, AB with two of her daughters by her side.
Jean is survived by her five children Karen (Ron) Bexson of Two Hills, AB; Linda Butler of Sherwood Park, AB; Judy (Darvin) Rollison of Campbell River BC and Lloydminster; Marie (Don) Hall of Abbotsford BC; Ted (Daisy) Skinner of Calgary, AB; fourteen of her grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Jean was predeceased by her parents George and Mae Cormack, her brother George, sister Audrey, beloved husband William (Bill) Gibbs Skinner in 1984, and her grandson Michael Butler in 2003.
The funeral was held on December 10 at the McCaw funeral chapel with Reverend Charles Fish officiating. Dr. Glenn Weir gave the eulogy. The hymn Crossing the Bar was sung as requested by Jean before her death. Interment followed at the Lloydminster Cemetery where she was laid to rest beside her husband.
Jean was born on a farm near Mervin, SK. Her family moved to Marshall, and later Lloydminster, where she worked as a telephone switchboard operator and married Bill Skinner in1942. A willing accompanist on piano and organ, music played a big role in Jeans life. She was a resourceful mother of five and hospitable wife whose generosity and above all strong faith will be remembered. Jean was a confidante and encourager to many people. The grace with which she handled her physical limitations in the last few years is an inspiring testimony. Well done, good and faithful servant!
The family extends a sincere thank you to Darvin Rollison, Carol Klinger, Karen Murphy, and the staff at Dr. Cooke for their loving and faithful service to Mom and Grandma that went beyond the call of duty. Special thanks to Juanita and Debbie at the Dr. Cooke. We would also like to thank the Staff at McCaws Funeral Home for the outstanding services that they provided us during this time.Donations may be made to the Parkinson's Society.
