Obituary of Kenneth McKenzie

McKENZIE - Kenneth Stuart McKenzie passed away peacefully at the Lloydminster Hospital, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at the age of 81 years.
Ken will be sadly missed by his wife, Pat, of Lashburn; his children, Glenda and Howard Parkyn of Lashburn, Lorraine and Bryan Thompson of Ardrossan, AB, Dan and Rema McKenzie of Lashburn, Ian and Shonna McKenzie of Kindersley; ten grandchildren: Jayme, Kyle and Pamela Parkyn, Christina and Jeremy Thompson, Kim, Jill and Alex McKenzie, Landon and Shannah Osiowy, one brother Don and Ruth McKenzie of Winnipeg and numerous other relatives.
Ken was born at Lashburn on May 6, 1926 to George and Cassie (McKone) McKenzie of the Tyrone District. He attended school at Tyrone and Lashburn High School after which he took over the family farm. He belonged to several boards and committees such as the United Church Board, the Masonic Lodge, the Credit Union Board, Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Committee and 4-H.
The funeral service for Ken was conducted from the Lashburn Community Hall, Lashburn, SK on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Ted Haas officiating.
A eulogy was given by Ian McKenzie.
A scripture reading was read by Kim McKenzie.
Pastor Lyle McKenzie gave a tribute from the Don McKenzie family.
The Leader of Songs was the Lashburn Community Choir accompanied by Jo Klassen. Hymns sung were Shall We Gather At The River, In The Bulb, and All Things Bright and Beautiful.
Members of the Masonic Lodge took part in the service and served as an Honor Guard.
Urn bearers were grandsons: Kyle Parkyn, Jeremy Thompson, Alex McKenzie and Landon Osiowy.
Interment was held at the Lashburn Cemetery.
McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements.

The family of Ken McKenzie wish to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Daniels of Maidstone and Dr. Combrinck of Lloydminster, the nurses and hospital staff on the third floor of the Lloydminster Hospital, and to Barb Farrell and Debbie Marlatt of Lashburn Home Care for the care given to Ken during his illness. Thank you to friends and neighbors for their support. Thank you to Pastor Ted Haas for conducting the funeral service, to pianist Jo Klassen, the Community Choir and to the brethren of the Masonic Lodge for their part in the service. Thank you to Lyle McKenzie for giving a tribute from the Don McKenzie family. Thanks to our friends from Tyrone for serving lunch after the service and to McCaw Funeral Service for handling all the arrangements for us. Many thanks for the cards, flowers, donations in lieu of flowers, food, phone calls and visits. God bless you all.
