BIOGRAPHY PETERSON ~ Arnold Peterson passed away at the Dr. Cooke Nursing Home on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at the age of 85 years. The funeral service for Arnold was conducted from St. John’s Anglican Church on Monday, May 28, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Michael Stonhouse officiating. A eulogy was given by Arnold’s grandchildren, Joanne Moore and Curtis Matiwshyn. The hymns sung were “Safe In The Arms Of Jesus” and “Beyond The Sunset”. Legion Members were present to perform a Legion Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers were All His Caregivers. Active pallbearers were Arnold’s grandchildren: Matt Thompson, Joanne Moore, Mark Herle, Peter Herle, Michael Herle, Sarah Herle, Jared Matwishyn and Curtis Matwishyn. Arnold was born in the Rex District on February 15, 1922 to August and Ally Peterson. After joining the Canadian Air Force during WWII, Arnold returned to the family farm in the North Gully District. There, he farmed with his brother Robert until he retired in 1990. Arnold married Mary Noyes on November 16, 1949. They had three daughters: Sandra, Lynda and Deb. As a family they enjoyed numerous trips to the mountains and their cabin at Loon Lake. After retiring, Arnold and Mary moved to Lloydminster where they enjoyed the fellowship at Lloydminster Horizon Village. Due to failing health, Arnold moved across the street to Dr. Cooke Nursing Home three years ago. Arnold will be greatly missed by his wife Mary; three daughters: Sandra and Dennis Herle, Lynda and Darrel Thompson, Deb and Harry Matwishyn; eight grandchildren: Matt and Twyla Thompson, Joanne and Todd Moore, Mark Herle and friend Donica, Peter and Lisa Herle, Michael Herle, Sarah Herle, Jared Matwishyn and Curtis Matwishyn; four great grandchildren: Taylor, Braydon Thompson, Shea Thompson and Connor Moore. Arnold was predeaceased by his parents August and Ally Peterson; one sister Alice and husband Charlie Fisher; two brothers: Edgar and wife Marie, and Robert. Interment was held in the Lloydminster City Cemetery. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster and Mackenzie Funeral Home of Prince Albert administered the funeral arrangements. CARD OF THANKS We would like to thank Dr. Cavanagh and staff at the Dr. Cooke Nursing Home for the compassion they showed Arnold and us during his stay. Thank you to Reverend Stonhouse for his words of comfort, Pat Skinner and the choir for their music and Legion Members who attended the service to honor all fellow servicemen. Thank you Joanne and Curtis for doing a wonderful job delivering the eulogy. Thank you to all our families and friends for the food, phone calls and support during this time. Thank you Harry and Mackenzie Funeral Home for looking after Dad and bringing him back to his farm one last time. Thank you Dale and staff at McCaw’s Funeral Home for all your compassion and support.
