Obituary of Anne Garland

It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of Anne Eileen Garland of Lloydminster, Alberta on April 16, 2007 at the age of 80 years. Left to cherish her loving memory is her husband Hamish and the following famiy: her sons Richard; Michael and his wife Gala and children Andy and Olivia; Dave and his wife Alice and children Rosaimee and Christian; her daughter Lesley and her husband Barry Wilmot and children Ben and Logan. Anne is also survived by her sisters Lorna Wopnford, Audrey and her husband Ron Derrick and brother Don and his wife Sharon. She was prececeased by her parents Christian and Lillian Wopnford and her older brother Max. Anne was born in Big River, Saskatchewan on June 22, 1926. She was the second child of Lillian and Christian Wopnford. In 1949 she moved to Lloydminster and began her nursing career at the local Lloydminster clinic. She retired from the Hospital after serving as the Director of Nursing and then went on to serve on the Hospital Board for several years. She was a well respected member of the local Health Care Community and a founding member of the Twin Rivers Home Care Board of Directors. Anne enjoyed spending her summers at Brightsand Lake which has become a family tradition for generations to come. After retirement, Hame and Anne loved to take summer vacations in their motor home, with destinations in Saskatchewan the favorite choice. The winter months were spent at the acreage enjoying the peace and solitude of rural life. Anne always looked forward to the arrival of spring, when she could pore over seed catalogues and start preparations for the large garden on their acreage. The funeral will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, April 23, 2007 at the St. Johns Anglican Church in Lloydminster. Donations can be made to Kitscoty Homecare, the Dr. Cooke Nursing Home or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the Nursing Staff on the 3rd Floor Medical Ward and Dr.'s Chan, Kostic and Chapelski for their compassionate care and support.
